ACTIVITY a
Research into a range of Apprenticeships and answer the following questions –

Find 1 apprenticeship that you like the look of and analyse the following –
 Who is the apprenticeship with?

The apprenticeship I have found is with ITV

 What responsibilities will you have whilst on the apprenticeship?

- Good awareness & a structured approach to organisation and problem-solving.


- Team player with a willingness to learn and help out
- Demonstrates enthusiasm and pride in maintaining a high standard throughout

 What are the Requirements to get onto an apprenticeship?

- Demonstrates a clear understanding & passion for the apprenticeship role they are
applying for as well as ITV
- Clearly understands the qualification proposition & how that would enhance the
apprenticeship
- Able to balance the qualification learning aspect of the role whilst working full time
- Scoring at least 8/9 through the multiple-choice application questions
- Descriptive and detail orientated answers to the set application questions

 Where is the Location of the apprenticeship?

The apprenticeship Is located in Bristol, in the ITV Studios located in Brislington

 What are the progression options after an apprenticeship?

ITV have stated that if you are successful with their apprenticeship and have deemed you eligible
then you may have the chance of joining part of ITV studios after the apprenticeship and carry on
working there

 How will an apprenticeship benefit you?

If I were to go for this apprenticeship, it would give me a lot of hands on experience


with working in a newsroom. I would also have a bunch of contacts I could use to get
myself somewhere higher up in the media industry.

 Why do you like this particular apprenticeship?


I like how this apprenticeship is local to me and where I grew up. I also like the amount of
experience and connections I could get out of it working with such a big company. The pay is
very good for an apprenticeship and the hours are flexible. There is also remote working
involved meaning that I can work home if need be. Its just great experience in getting out in
to the work place and see how many media industries work.

ACTIVITY b
 Who is the apprenticeship with? What is their background? Who are
they?

ITV News has been providing award-winning news coverage for more than 50 years.
Every day, millions of viewers watch their programmes on-air and connect with them
online to get the latest, breaking news from Britain’s most popular commercial
broadcaster. They connect with millions of people every day, make content that
people “can't get enough of and reflect and shape the world we live in” they say that
the do all this through the “power of creativity”.
 Are you confident you have the skills to perform the responsibilities on
the apprenticeship? Why?

I would be nervous at start since it’s a new area and one I am not quite used to yet,
but as I work more, I should be able to gain the skills and everything I need capable
to pursue in the media industry. I feel like I really but my best work into this that I
should come out a new set of skills and a taste for the media industry, I may even
carry on working there after the apprenticeship.

 Can you achieve the Requirements expected to get onto an


apprenticeship? How?

I feel like I can achieve the requirements expected to get on this apprentice by getting
experience by helping out smaller media companies so I get the feel how how the company
should run, the expectations and get into the routine of the basic day to day things I will be
in charge of

 What pro’s & con’s of the Location of the apprenticeship might there be?

Pro – Its near where I used to live, lovely area (rough but not too rough), in a popular
area and got food places nearby

Cons – gotta get there by car, 40 min drive

 What is the date to apply for the application?

 What problems can you foresee with an apprenticeship?

Lack of experience first of all but after a while you should be able to gain the
experience to become capable of what you need to do.
 Will this this particular apprenticeship help you achieve your life goals?

Am not too sure what I want In life, but It would give me good experience for future in life
