ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

In performing our project, we had to take the help and guideline of some respected
persons, who deserve our greatest gratitude. The completion of this assignment gives
us much pleasure. We would like to show our gratitude to PROf.ELANGOVAN
for giving us a good guideline for assignment throughout numerous consultations.
We would also like to expand our deepest gratitude to all those who have directly
and indirectly guided us in writing this assignment. We also thank the VIT and Dean
of SELECT and office for this opportunity. Many people, especially our classmates
and team members itself, have made valuable comment suggestions on this proposal
which gave us an inspiration to improve our assignment. We thank all the people for
their help directly and indirectly to complete our assignment.
INTRODUCTION:

The project selected by us is solar mini powered vehicle Solar cars usually run
on only power from the sun, although some models will supplement that power
using a battery, or use solar panels to recharge batteries or run auxiliary
systems for a car that mainly uses battery power. In our project we are trying
to make a 24Volt DC motor operate through a 12volt Solar Panel.
OBJECTIVE:
Our objective in this project is to make a 24V DC motor powered by a solar
panel. This is achieved by using a Boost converter. The Boost converter can
be used to boost the voltage in the circuit thereby making the voltage from
the solar panel meet the standards of the DC motor.

So the components required are:
1. Solar Panel (12v output)
2. Mosfet IRF510
3. Capacitor
4. Inductor
5. Dc motor(Running at 24 volts,1750 rpm)
6. Diode

RESULT

The motor was made to run successfully. The voltage obtained varied a bit at
times, we were able to obtain upto 26.43V and sometimes went as low as 18V.
This might have been due to the variation of intensity in the sun’s rays.
CONCLUSION

By improving the design of the solar panel and by making it more compact the
vehicle can be designed to move. The results obtained from the simulation and
in the hardware were found to be different. Little adjustments were made in the
hardware side in order to make the DC motor run.
