Topic: Online education system for university students

Sir,

Introduction:
Higher Education Commission (HEC), directed all universities and accredited institutions in the country
to start online classes to avoid education loss to the students staying at home due to the COVID-19
spread.During the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, the dispensation of formal education is something that
should not be halted. Higher education, in particular, can instill in our youth the responsibility to play
their decisive role in bringing Pakistan out of this hard-hitting situation. Still, the needs of students were
not addressed as it was announced by the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training that
all the educational institutes of the country would remain closed. The Higher Education Commission
(HEC), the regulatory body of universities, realizing the gravity of the situation, immediately issued
guidelines encouraging universities to move on to online education while taking into account their
respective capacities and available infrastructure.

Findings:
There are many problems in online classes for students as well as teachers.

Problems for students:

 Many students are not provided with the high bandwidth or the strong internet
connection that online courses require, and thus fail to catch up with their virtual
classmates.
 Time management is a difficult task for e learners, as online courses require a lot of time
and intensive work.
 Although students are generally tech savvy, and thus able to manage computers well,
lack of computer literacy is a major issue among students today. Many of them cannot
operate basic programs.
 Many students are face fee submission problem.
 people’s shyness from e-learning and being camera consciousness are also practical
issues being faced by both the students and teachers.

Problem for teachers:

 Camera consciousness are also practical issues being faced by both the students and teachers.
 There are internet issues for both students and teachers.
 Teachers can not convey lecture properly.

Conclusion:
Online classes has both positive and negative impacts. For positive impacts, online experiences
can help students achieve things that would otherwise be impossible on campus. There is no
need of transporation. The negative is, Overall this is the problem of all departments but
especially  the students who belong to the department of math’s , physics, engineering and
computer sciences , it is not possible for students to understand lectures.

Suggestions/Solutions:

Suggestion and solution for both teachers and students

Online learning may be new and different, but it also allows you to take the courses you need
to earn the degree you want all in a supportive and convenient setting.Even if you’re facing
challenges, believe that you can do this. There’s no interaction between learner and teacher.
The experience will be very different and that transition can be difficult for many learners.
Managing your time wisely and focusing on your goals are great ways to stay on track and
accomplish what you want to get out of your program. There should be strong internet
connection between students and teachers. Furthermore, with the help of teachers or
facilitators and the learning community, you can gain the right support and advice to reduce
problems.
