Course Description Credit Units: 3

This course provides an overview of early childhood curriculum development, includes processes for
planning and implementing developmentally appropriate environments, materials and experiences and
quality in early childhood programs. Focuses on age’s birth through age 8.
Course Outcomes

A. Identify the factors affecting the planning of early childhood curricula including biological and social
environments.
B. Observe and assess individual children’s learning and development to plan developmentally and
culturally appropriate learning activities.
C. Create curriculum sensitive to the learning styles and intelligences of the children.
