Module 3 _ The Analects
Sr. Erica Noreen U. Tinio, FdCC
BSED 4-E

V. ACTIVITIES:
If you are into the following situations, how would you react? State your reason.
1. You are a living witness to your classmate’s act of cheating.

First and foremost, cheating is a conscious act. It means I have the right to correct my classmate
accordingly. But I will make sure that my reaction or way of correcting her/him is fraternal. I will
correct my classmate in a nicer way using the art of dialogue that would make him/her realize the
value of honesty and integrity of oneself. It is not for me to judge my classmate but my responsibility
as living witness of cheating is to let him/her realize the effect of that inordinate action.

2. Your best friend wants to get an ‘A’ in his major subject, but he relies on your answers, projects, and
research.

Friendship is good but tolerating dishonesty in inordinate friendship. If I am a real friend, I will let
him/her discover his/her own giftedness and teach my friend to become responsible enough as a
student. Sharing my answers somehow is an act of generosity but if the result of that action is making
others lazy and irresponsible for school works, then it is already my fault. I am contributing to his/her
failings to grasps the opportunities for growth. To have an effective friendship, I will help his/her to
understand the lessons accordingly and be a support system for her/him to reach the goal.

3. You are living in the comfort and luxury of life while all others don’t have anything on their table to eat

It says that “Love of God can be really true if we love our neighbor”. Indeed, we have a
responsibility to help one another, we are called to love one another. The luxurious life we gained is
not meant to be kept in our houses and for our own wealth, it must be shared in many ways.

VII. EVALUATION:
Answer the following questions in at least five(5) sentences.
1. How useful do you find the sayings from The Analects?
Analects are essential since it provides a moral framework that relates to individuals, politics and
metaphysics. It develops one’s principle in life that would help them to become the person God wants
them to be. It helps people to discover their giftedness as virtuous person. It is important that we hold our
life’s principle as basis of being relational being. Analects can give us advice for how toCTE
live our lives and
how to treat others accordingly.

2. Why do some people commit sins, mistakes in their life? Do they really choose to be bad?
Humans are created with natural values according to the Catechism of the Catholic Church. We have
the natural values that gives us a signal of what is wrong and what is right. I do believe that no one could opt
to have a miserable life through having a repeated sin. People could make mistakes because of
circumstances or sometimes lack of awareness but it doesn’t mean that the person opted to become bad.
Mistakes are parts and parcel of life, and hopefully mistakes are our training ground for us to realize the
value of living a good life.
