LESSON 1: COURSE OVERVIEW

ACTIVITY 1

Read the LDM Course Overview. Reflect on the overview by answering the following questions. Write down your
insights in your Study Notebook.

1. What is the main delivery of this course?

The main delivery of this Learning Delivery Modalities course is to cater learning in alternative
methods such as Distance Learning, Blended Learning, and Homeschooling to guarantee the health, safety,
and wellbeing of all learners, teachers and other Department of Education employees. This is included in the
Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP) by the DepEd.

2. How can this course help ensure that you will be able to deliver quality instruction in the “new normal”?

This course aims to equip teachers and other DepEd personnel in the development
and implementation of learning delivery modalities aligned with policies of the Department
of Health in response to Covid-19. Outputs from this course will be a guide on how we can
efficiently deliver quality basic education amidst this pandemic.

3. What are the two support mechanisms that will help you with your learning in this course?

Two support mechanisms that will help me with my learning in this course is the
initiative to attend webinars regarding the development of this learning delivery modality
and the willingness to communicate and collaborate with my colleagues to come up with
the most effective service when it comes to learning.

I have the tendency to procrastinate which affects the timeliness of my activities.


With this circumstance, I am very much willing to be counseled and guided to be more productive. While my
strength could be my openness for criticisms and suggestions.

2. How can I ensure that I am able to sustain my strengths and address the obstacles that will hinder me from
completing this course?

The key is to be teachable and consistent. When we want to really learn and master
the craft, we should be a good listener to our superiors and be a keen observer of their
positive ways. When we begin, we must aim to finish well. Finishing well lies in the
consistency.

LESSON 2: ORGANIZING YOUR LEARNING ACTION CELL (LAC)
ACTIVITY 1

Begin by refreshing your memory on the Learning Action Cell. Read DepEd Order No. 35 s. 2016 titled “The
Learning Action Cell as the K to 12 Basic Education Program School Based Continuing Professional Development
Strategy for the Improvement of Teaching and Learning.” Once you’re done, answer the following questions. Write
your responses and any other ideas and reflections in your Study Notebook.

1. Reflect on the objectives for conducting LAC sessions as listed in DO 35, s. 2016.
Rank the following objectives from easiest to the most difficult to achieve:
- To improve the teaching-learning process to improve learning among students
- To nurture successful teachers
- To enable teachers to support each other to continuously improve their content and pedagogical knowledge,
practice, skills, and attitudes
- To foster a professional collaborative spirit among School Heads, teachers, and the community as a whole

I will not change the hierarchy as it is. I believe that as an educator, our number one priority is the
welfare of the learners, that is why our basic skill requires continuous improvement in the teaching-learning
process. Next is nurturing teachers. As much as we value the learners, we also try to develop through
engagement in activities that promote our professional growth. And I think among the hardest to achieve is
promoting positive relationships between superiors to colleagues and co-workers to co-workers. But there are
still some of the few school environments that really practice good relationships with each other.

2. What are the top three challenges to having a successful LAC? List down and elaborate.

1. Communication. I believe this where most of us fall short. We all want to be heard and
our suggestion to be taken into account but we forget to listen. We should listen more
instead and talk less.
2. Resources. Our visions will just be visions when we do not have the right tool or
equipment.
3. Faction/Division. When competition becomes aggressive and too personal. Let us
compete to grow, not just to win and be recognized.

ACTIVITY 2
According to DO 35, s. 2016, a LAC should have no less than 2 but not more than 15 members each. Get in touch
with your designated Coach or LAC Leader in forming your LACs.
