PROPOSAL TO LOWER POLLUTION CAUSED BY VEHICLES

INTRODUCTION
It is a proved fact that pollution is big cities is increasing at high speed.
The purpose of this proposal is to suggest simple steps to be implemented in our daily
habits, especially in those related to the use of vehicles powered by fossil fuels.

CURENT SITUATION
When we arrive at the Escuela Oficial de Idiomas, the first thing that catch our eye is a
plenty car park. It seems that nobody goes there using clean means of transport.

RECOMMEDATIONS
The main ones are:
- Prioritise the use of bikes over cars when coming to the E.O.I.
- Share your car with other students
- Use as much as possible public transport
It would be also interesting to create a department in the school to gather all the
creative ideas of the students that could contribute to the reductions of the use of
cars, and communicate them to the “Concejalia de Bienestar Social”, like convert buses
to compressed natural gas (a cleaner fuel than gasoil) or reduce the price of public
transport.

CONCLUSION
All these actions could reduce about a 10% the level of pollution in the air surrounding
the school. Besides that, less cars would mean a smoother traffic flow. So I encourage
all the pupils to take into account these measures.
