Hi Friends. We are excited in how God continues to allow His
work to go forward in Ecuador!
Ecuador Visit: Dena and I took a few pastors and supporters
to Ecuador for a short visit the week of
September 21. It was amazing to see the
children again. We were overjoyed how well
the trip went, the Lord helped us with negative
PCR COVID tests prior to our departure and we
were able to get all 24 suit-
cases filled with supplies in the country. I am
not big on numbers, but while we were in
Ecuador in September, we were able to give
631 children and 113 adults the Gospel in the form of a
lesson, craft, memory verse and snack in a plastic baggie. We
also gave each child another bag with 5 pieces of chocolate
bread, tagged with a sermonette that read “Jesus is the bread
of life.”
Heaven’s gain: With great sadness we announce
that Pastor Juan Loja passed away on September
19. He was a humble, missions minded pastor and
planted many house churches. He will be missed.
Ministry done differently:
We still cannot meet in person with the children,
so the E-team drives off-road find the children
and give them their lesson baggie. Other children
are still walking long distances to meet beside the
road to get their baggie and say their memory
verse. They are hungry for the Word of God.
Meet Marta: Marta helps Jeny and
Gonzalo and she also holds a Bible
club out of her little house in the
village of Charqui. When any of the 37
children fail to come to the Bible club,
she walks to the children’s houses to minister to them.
Her daughter teased that she
borrows their school supplies
to use for the Bible clubs.

Testimony: Meet Miguelito (little Miguel) Ramon. He was
hospitalized during the pandemic for breathing issues. He
asked his mother to bring his little Blue Bible
to the hospital. She read the stories to him
morning and night. Miguelito’s doctor asked
him “Do you really believe what you read in
this book?” Miguel replied, “Yes, I was told in
the Bible clubs that I would face giants like
David faced Goliath and God would help me
face my giants.” His mother, crying, said “my little son has
more faith than I do.” We gave these Bible story Bibles to the
children in their backpacks last year.
What is next? We will take two more small groups to
Ecuador, one in November and one in
December, then we return full-time at the
beginning of January.
Coast: We hope to expand Pate Ministries to
the Coast in the first quarter of the 2021. We
want to share the Gospel through Bible Clubs
in the coastal fishing villages, where there is
very little Evangelical presence. We were
scheduled for May, but COVID hindered us.
Prayer: We covet your prayers for the E-team, our family and
our preparation to return to Ecuador.
