Science behind Xbox

Purpose:

The purpose of this task is to investigate the science behind how the Xbox work. Why do the batteries
keep recharging? Why don’t we need to use chords to connect the controller to the console? By the end
of this investigation, hopefully all of these questions will be answered.

How are you going to present the information?

You can present the information in any way that you would like. Some ideas include PowerPoint, poster,
YouTube video, short article, infographic, or a pamphlet.

Some research questions:

 What is Xbox?
 Why is it so popular?
 In your opinion what is the best game to play on it?

 Get a photo of a wireless Xbox controller.

 What does the word wireless mean?
 How does the controller get power?
 How do rechargeable batteries work?
 What chemical element (from the Periodic Table) helps these batters to run?
 Do these batteries ever stop charging/ working? Explain this to the best of your ability.

 What does the term ‘Bluetooth’ mean?

 List as many ways as you can think of to show different ways that ‘Bluetooth’ is used.
 Who invented Bluetooth?
 Why do you think that Bluetooth is an important invention?
 What kind of waves (a physics term) are used to transmit information between electronic devices
over short distances?
 Give some information about this type of wave.

 Describe what you think the world would look like without the invention of Xbox.
