Podemos usar UNLESS para decir IF… NOT o EXCEPT IF.


Unless you pay for the broken window, I will phone the police. (If you don’t pay for the window..)
I’ll see you tomorrow unless I have to work late. (Except if I have to work late)

WISH

WISH + PAST SIMPLE

Podemos usar WISH + PAST SIMPLE para decir que queremos que algo sea diferente a como es
ahora. Algo no es como quisiéramos que fuera.
I wish I didn’t have to work
I wish I were rich

WISH + PAST PERFECT

Podemos usar WISH + PAST PERFECT para hablar del pasado, cundo sentimos-nos arrepentimos de
que algo no haya pasado.
I woke up very late this morning. I wish I had gone to bed earlier. (No se levantó temprano y ahora
desea haberlo hecho, se arrepiente de no haberse levantado temprano)
Podemos utilizar la forma negativa para decir que sentimos o nos arrepentimos que algo pasara.
Many people wish that J. F. Kennedy hadn’t gone to Dallas. (Many people are sorry that Kennedy went
to Dallas)
