CHAPTER 3

Design Consideration
I. SITE CONSIDERATION

A. BASIC CONSIDERATION

 Total Land Area

 Security
 State of economy of the place
 The availability of the site to install one or more
antennas
 Vehicular access or positioned such that access can be
provided at reasonable cost

B. UHF TV CONSIDERATION
Assume that the design of an ideal UHF TV relay on site, basic
specification would probably contain clauses similar to the
following:

 Grounding system.
 Be clear of existing and proposed overhead high tension
cables.
 Check if the site is a potential obstruction to air traffic .
 Located as to be free from co-channel interference and
other radio interferences.

II. FREQUENCY CONSIDERATION

 The frequency band used in the design is 518-524MHz.

 The frequency allocation is based on the TV channel plan shown in
that was given by National Telecommunication Commission.
III. EQUIPEMENT CONSIDERATION

A. SHELTER CONSIDERATION

 Must have an adequate lightning, ventilation, and air-

conditioning
 Shelter should be able to keep sensitive equipment safely.
 Shelter should be large enough to accommodate all needed
equipment and at the same time allow people to move freely
around the land area.

B. ANTENNA CONSIDERATION

 High gain antenna must be used or an omnidirectional.

 Antenna must not be heavy and large so that easy mounting in
the tower and easy to troubleshoot if have any technical
problem.

C. TOWER CONSIDERATION

 Capability of the tower to hold load such as antennas and

cables prior to construction.
 Capability of the tower to hold the antenna and cables if there
are typhoons, Earthquakes and other calamities.
 Location and height of the tower to avoid the obstruction.

IV. POWER EQUIPMENT CONSIDERATION

 Generators and batteries are to be provided which serve as

standby power equipment.
 Equipment for power must be ready for possible power
interruption to maintain system operation.
V. LIGHTNING PROTECTION CONSIDERATION

 All equipment must susceptible to high current will be sufficiently

grounded for its safety.
 Lightning protection that will use to contain the appropriate
conductive paths for lightning current.
 All equipment must have a ground for its safety.

VI. GROUNDING PROTECTION CONSIDERATION

 Must be installed for every equipment inside the facility.

 Water table and seasonal changes.
 Must be coordinated with lightning protection so that the
equipment is safe in sudden high current.
 Availability of area for installation of grounding protection system,
requirements and utilization of chemical rods or wells

VII. STUDIO CONSIDERATION

A. SIZE

 Has a maximum clear height of 25ft to elaborate the lightning grid

and cyclorama scenery gear.
 Has a large volume up to for participants, furniture and
equipment.
B. CONTROL ROOMS

 Has an apparatus room.

 Other rooms such as make up rooms, changing room and
property room.
 Has a control room for vision, lightning, sound and camera
controls.
 Has a generator or batteries inside the control room.

C. VENTILATION AND CONDITIONING

 Has conditioning system to lower down the temperatures of the

equipment inside the studio.
 Has a proper ventilation to reduce dissipate of heat inside the
studio.
 Has an air sanitizer for disinfecting the studio to avoid Covid19.

D. LIGHTNING

 Studio must flexible enough to provide room for lightning grid.

 Lightning gallery must be designed to give access for adjustment
of different types of luminants used in the studio lightning.

E. DISINFECTION AREA

 Has an alcohol, air sanitizer and other disinfectant to avoid

spreading the virus.
 Must have healthy protocols and instruction at the door.
