AFRO LUXURY IS HERE

We are super excited to bring you our last

photoshoot for this unpredictable year. In
this photoshoot we ponder on what "Afro
Luxury" could mean.

How African luxury is defined is entirely

up to us, and yet often times our artists
and fashion pieces are hailed only when
they exhibit tribal themes and jungle/
wild elements?

Do you define and describe luxury from a

western lens?

Does an object need to be European for you

to think of it as luxurious?

What would our fashion, our standards of

beauty and our assessment of luxury be if we
didn't design and present for foreign approval?

Is your definition of African beauty through a

western lens only?

Our exploration of these ideas led us to

reimagine natural beauty in our local context.

In this photoshoot, we reclaimed jute sacks

used to bag cocoa as our clothing and raffia
mats served as our backdrop. This is our take
on African Luxury. We hope you love it as
much as we do.

sacks used to bag cocoa sacks are imported?

YOUR GUIDE TO POPPING HAIR THIS DECEMBER

So you are going to a wedding, your outfit is in the latest style, flowing in silk or better yet a fitted
number in lace. Your hair must surely be an Up do, coiffed expertly by Twists & Locs.
You get home after dancing and partying to all the December hits. What next? How do you ensure
your hair still looks amazing in the morning?

Aftercare for an Up do
• Lightly spray some oil sheen on your style to keep it looking fresh.

• Oil your scalp and lightly moisturize your edges.

•Lightly scarf your hair with a silk or satin scarf before going to bed.

Your company organized a Christmas party so you got signature Afro Twists
from Twists & Locs. You partied too hard, and ended up sweating too much.
You have an outdooring the next morning, your hair has to look on point.
What do you do?

Aftercare for twists with own hair

•In the morning, lightly spray your hair with a mix of water and any
hair oil (coconut, argan, olive etc) to moisturise or use a brand name leave in spray.

•After misting your hair, shake your hair to revive your twists and get them bouncy.

•Use a scalp serum or anti-itch spray if your scalp is itchy.

•Remember to always sleep in a satin/silk bonnet, scarf, or pillow.

Your friend got you tickets for a few parties and festivals. With the way things are going you decide

began, two nights in a row. Sis is tired, how can you ensure your faux locs are not looking tired too?

Aftercare for Faux Locs

•Use a scalp serum/ tonic or braid sheen/spray on your scalp every other day to make sure your
scalp is moisturized.

•Remember to protect your edges by moisturising them or using castor, moringa or baobab oil
every other day

•Remember to always sleep in a satin/silk bonnet, scarf or pillow.
