skills and movement patterns. (Psychomotor Domain)

Context:

I am teaching this particular lesson to work on student’s skill development and to

understand the concept of the sport. Previous knowledge students will bring into this lesson is

previous skills developed from other lessons/sports that will help them excel. Teaching students

motor skills and tactics used for net/wall games.

Data:
Students will be grouped so that they have a chance to work with different partners and

opponents. Data will be collected in this lesson by seeing which classmates work well in the

activity together and which do not.

Materials:

Badminton racquets, birdies, nets, plays diagrams, bracket rotation diagram. Badminton

video, Badminton website, Badminton google forum quiz, computer.

Procedures:

Introduction (5 minutes):

I will gather students and show them how to properly set up the nets. Students will help getting

all the nets setup properly. Will go over safety concerns and proper handling of the racquet.

Teacher Directed (10 minutes):

I will explain to students how Badminton is played and scored. I will ask students for a

volunteer to help demonstrate to the class how to properly perform forehand shots, serve,

backhand shots. I will have the student sit back down and will continue to explain the rules and

lines (service line). I will then work on the grip of the racket with students.

Collaborative (30 minutes):

Students will find a partner and they will firstly work on their forehand. I will be going around

making sure form is correct and everyone is learning the forehand. After the forehand we will

work on backhand and then eventually serving. Rotating to a different partner for each type of

shot. After having learned and practiced the 3 types of shots we will put them into action for the
last bit of class. Classmates will play 2 on 2’s against their partners in a short game to get a feel

of what a game feels like. Making sure proper score is being kept and is in the right way.

Independent Digital (10 minutes):

After learning and practicing these skills I will have students work independently for the last bit

of class to visit the website provided on either their phones/laptops. The website and video

provide further instruction on the different types of shots and beginner tips. Students will take a

short google forum quiz after studying the information.

Closure (5 minutes):

At the end of class we will go over the answers to the quiz as a class and see how students did.
