Introduction
In the next activity, we are going to talk and analyze the advantages and
disadvantages that we as engineers have as consequences of having a low
level of knowledge on a second language, in this case, english. Also, we are
going to talk about the work options previously found in activity one, which is
of vital importance because thanks to that activity, we can carry out this one
without any problem.
PHASE 1.- IMPORTANCE OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE TO GET A GOOD
JOB.

Based on the Table No. 1, make a relationship between salaries and English
required of the found jobs.

Degree:
IME_______________________________________________________

Company: Job: Salary: Required

English:
TECHINT Electrical $ 15,000 gross per Advanced
INGENIERIA Y engineering month
CONSTRUCCION manager

Secodisa - Monterrey, Electrical Engineers $ 25,000 - $ 30,000 Advanced

N. L per month

Celestica Inc. Quality, Process, $14,500- Advanced

Data control, 15,000 (MNX)
Laboratory in per month 75% to 85%
medical products

Basic Level:
Realfix S.A. de C.V Basic Level:
Technical $10,500 - Not necessary
support $11,000
(MNX) per
month
Conclusion by Team:

We can see that if an engineer has a better level of English, his salary will be
biggest than an engineer who has a basic level. Also, the opportunities are
bigger for the first one, because the percentage of engineers with advanced
level its small.
PHASE 2: DIAGNOSIS OF THE ENGLISH TEST (TOEFL)

Conclusion.

As a final conclusion of this activity, we can mention that thanks to the

investigation that was made in the activity number one, for each teammate, we
could realize that today, a person with high knowledge on a second language
(English), has a variety of options and contracts to sign, compared to a person
with a basic level of English. This activity made us reflect on all team
members, since none of us passed the simulation exam -a percentage greater
than 80%-. This motivates us to continue studying this language, since it is
one of the most popular and important skill on the globalized industry.
