MY EPIPHANY

Law in itself is strict. Well, of course, derived from the principle of “Dura lex sed lex” as it is harsh, it is still the law. It
governs some aspects of our lives and with good reason, it keeps peace between people, it acts as a fail-safe for public
misconduct. As a student taking up law, business law to be precise, it’s given that commerce will always be related, but of
course we had to get a grip of the basics. The thing is, BUSLAW is a subject where discipline is mandatory. It is will not
take being lax and being nonchalant as excuse for consideration. It should up to the person, it trains us to be better and to
be rational individuals. I for one, have memorization as a weakness, not most of the time, but I see it as something
difficult for me to catch on. Having started the 1st week way back June the 3rd, I was positive since I’ve been given this
chance to redeem myself from the blunder which was the 2 nd semester of my first year. Looking at life a little more
positively. I aspire to be an accountant, so that’s what I’m going to do. As cliché as it sounds, we were greeted by Atty.
Togade with the same energy as always so as to keep the class from getting bored. During the 2nd week of short term, we
were given the option to attend a seminar called the "National accounting summit", as an accountancy major myself, i
took the opportunity and attended the summit. Apparently, the summit consisted of 2 days which at least four or five
speakers that will talk about topics such as taxation, investments, cryptocurrencies, market trends, technological advances
related to accounting. All of the speakers were fantastic in the message they wanted to deliver from Sir Rhad Vic Estoque
to Tj Villamor to even Josh Vasquez that prove that anything is attainable so long as you put in the time and effort and the
amount of sacrifice to reach goal. They emphasized that the problems of with people are that they lack the initiative to
take control of their lives and that they lack the initiative to act on opportunities. We also learned that investments are
very important even while we're students, because it creates a foundation to which our future may rely upon them in times
of financial distress or strategic planning in life, there are numerous options as to the investments but people need to make
the risk and choices so as to grow from the experience whether it be positive or negative, I learned that looking at life in a
brighter perspective actually increases work performance while reducing time standing still. Remembering that failure
will always be a prominent factor to one's own success. Given the circumstances, it being my first ever proper and full
seminar in relation with my course, I look forward to trying more similar activities so as to boost my credentials and most
importantly be able to apply what I've learned from experience, to the betterment of my life. The third week came so did
the examination, anxiety all around as it came by fast, the feel from short term literally took each of us by storm because
of how fast paced it was quiz after quiz, requirement after requirement, you’ll be lucky as to get a little break once in a
while. So, after the exams sighs of relief came about. Results came on the fourth week and spirits were dynamic, the
results were out and things weren’t bad and they weren’t good, I told myself, once I saw a particular number, I’m
officially dropping the subject, I saw the number, then I’ve lost all hope, but I looked at the 2 nd number, a hope lit in me
telling me that I’ll finish this first then I’ll decide. I shouldn’t be too hasty. A week after that, I realized that there were at
least 3 more weeks before the final exams, it still really surprises me how short the term is. But, the digest is still there,
it’s just that the adapting to the pace is still new. More or less, the finals came, and with it, a heavier workload, lesson, and
vibe since the grades were either supposed to be maintained or raised. It gives the student a sense of strategy as they may
focus on other subjects other than the ones which they had a high mark on. Much like what I’m doing with law, since I
really want to pass and to prove to myself that I can do it. A couple of quizzes and lessons go by. As an aspiring business
student, I should be able to adapt to the changes in the environment, market, strategies, and problems which arise
randomly. I should be logical to the choices I plan to make and take into consideration the benefits and costs of what I’m
doing in my everyday life. The law provides the just rationality and reasonability of how I should live my life. It is there
to give me a foundation to know what is legally wrong and what is legally right. As far as freedom is concerned, the law is
there to be a sort of figure for us to follow so as to avoid being in negligence and bad faith. In businesses, there are certain
rules and regulations and cultures which one must adhere to so as to avoid conflict and to build a moral foundation, if
there weren’t any rules or regulations, then it would just be plain chaos, there is the law so as to mandate the society and
lessen what inconveniences the natural order. As an aspiring businessman, it is my social responsibility to be a role model
for the masses, to show them that they are able to do something despite what ranks show them. Because as a whole, who
strive for a similar goal, it is much stronger than one who is chosen in place. If one were to have a goal, as what the law
teaches, other than striving for that goal legally, it is to think rationally of what actions are there to be taken in such
situations where one is able to grow form.
