I. OUTCOME: At the end of the lesson, the Grade 7-Mabini students must be able to identify the
theme in a given literary text.

a. Exploration (Activity) -
Title: Watch Me!
The students will watch a lyric video of the song “Fight Song” by Rachel Plattern.
b. Firming Up (Analysis)
What is the message of the song?
Give some few lines from the song that support its message.
c. Deepening (Abstraction)
What is theme?
What is an example of a theme?
d. Transferring (Application)
The students will be grouped into four.
The teacher will assign one poem each group.
They will then draw a tree on their cartolina then identify the theme of their
respective poem and write it in the trunk part of the tree.
They will also write some details from the poem that will support their theme and
write it in the branches of the tree.
They will present their work in class.

V. ASSESSMENT
Read and identify the theme of the story “The Story of An Hour” by Kate Chopin through a
slogan.
VI. ASSIGNMENT
In a long bond paper create a poster showing the theme of the poem “A Poison Tree” by William
Blake.
