Section: A1

active citizenship.

If you checked at least four statements in Statements B, then you are less inclined to manifest

Please answer the following questions:

1. Do you feel you have a voice in our government? Why or why not?

I don’t think I have a voice in our government. It is because in our government, those who has a
power to govern are only given the chance to have a voice in our government. As a student, my
wants or other student’s wants are almost not heard by our government.

2. In your opinion, can an adolescent initiate change in society? Why or why not?

In my opinion, adolescents can initiate change in our society. It is because adolescents have a
capability to propagate their voices to government. Adolescents have a power to tell to our
government the wrong or the bad sides on how they make our society.

3. Do you feel optimistic or pessimistic about the future of our country? Why?

I feel pessimistic about the future of our country. It is because I our government nowadays are
only focusing on their own mind-set and not having an awareness of the sides to the people
they govern.

4. Do you feel optimistic or pessimistic about being a Filipino? Why?

Of course I’m glad and I feel optimistic about being a Filipino because we’ve faced many
obstacles in our government and our society and yet we are always looking for the positive side.
I think Filipinos can change our society for the better if we will have the cooperation between
the government and the all the citizens in our country.
Unit 1. The Political Self: Developing Active Citizenship
Exercise 2.0. My Advocacy
Name: Kennette C. Cayabyab
Section: A1

Choose a particular political or societal issue that you observe in our society that you
feel strongly about. Write down the nature of that issue on the box below:

POVERTY
When you have finished the above section, answer the following questions:

1. Why do you feel passionate about this issue? Please explain.

I want to share my thoughts about this particular societal issue that I observe in our
society. Poverty is a situation that a certain family or a person is not capable to buy or
to meet basic needs like food, clothing and shelter. A poor handling of a government to
the society means poverty. It results to a hunger, rapid growth of population,
unemployment, low levels of education and skills and disability or ill-health.

2. What can you do as an adolescent to address this issue? Describe and explain.

As an adolescent, I want to help people that put themselves to poverty like homeless
people and young teens in streets. I want them to be in care of the DSWD who are in
charged to those minors.

3. Are you happy being a Filipino? Explain.

As a Filipino, of course I’m happy to be a Filipino since it’s my identity. Moreover, I am

proud that Filipinos are people that refuses to give up no matter what obstacles we’ll
encounter.
