 ABC Steel Company was one of the country’s largest producers of fabricated
steel products.
 ABC Steel Company had been prided itself on being a producer of top quality
steel products.
 90 of the laborers are from a nearby barangay and many of them are barangay
leaders.

b. Weaknesses
 Disciplinary problems on the production workers of the company.
 Shortage of skilled manpower.
 The targets are unrealistic.
 Positions in the Barangay are more highly regarded than positions in the
Company.

c. Opportunities
 Established as one of the top producers of quality steel products.
 Exemplified and satisfying service promotes one’s business.

d. Threats
 Bankruptcy in another five months.
 Industry awareness of ABC’s inefficiency.
 Other companies in the same product line target delivery schedule of its customer.

2. What are the major areas that can be identified for improving ABC Steel? Explain
ABC Steel's process control approach.

 As mentioned in the Case, the system in place for detecting non-conformities and
deficiencies within the product/process and also objectives that are not always adequately
deployed to the process level are really the major problems of the company. In order to
improve these, ABC Steel company must investigate the root cause of the problem,
considers the feedbacks that the customers may give in order to maintain and preserve the
quality of service that the company have and also to use the statistical process control
techniques which the company needs to invest in this program by the involvement in
training and education in order to identify and understand the characteristics of the
problems.

The ABC Steel demonstrate a high level of management involvement in the quality
program. In effect, quality assurance department carries out activities pertaining to
management system quality as well as product quality.

Process commence with the planning activity which in turn identifies the aspects:
o Setting the objectives which are measurable and consistent with the business
policies.
o Ensuring compatibility of the processes.
o Identification and acquisition of any controls, documentation and equipment
identification and preparation of records.
o Meeting the eight quality management principles.
o Conducting regular meetings to communicate to all personnel on the matters:
Customer requirements system performance/company performance.
o Controlling all documents related to the business management system whether
hard copies or electronic information in order to specify the system control
requirements.
o Generating Records in order to examine the effectiveness and conformity of
the business management system to quality requirements.
