1. Objective:
For Smooth Operation of EH Oil pump.

2. Scope:
This SOP is applicable for 2 nos. of EH Oil pump.

3. Introduction:

EH oil system is also termed as regulation and safety protection system. The
system is designed to assure the secure and reliable operation of mechanism
of the HP fire-resistant oil in digital electro hydraulic control system
(DEH)The system execute DEH command, completing corresponding task
such as latch, driving valves, shutting of units. The system is common for
supply oil to operation of ESVs, CVs and 2 recirculation pumps for cooling
and filtration of oil. Discharge of recirculation pump partly flows through
cooler and partly through filter. There are 6 accumulators to meet the
sudden pressure demands. Fire resistant oil is used in the system to avoid
fire in case of leak from valves as oil falls on high temp steam lines. Filters
are provided in EH oil pump discharge and recirculation pump discharge to
be observed from local only. One more filter is provided in oil inlet to control
valve filter clogged. Choke indication is provided in local as well as also
provided for filters in CVs, ESVs supply line. Filter is provided after the
cooler also .Thermostatic valve is provided in cooling water inlet to cooler to
control tank temperature.

Ensure that the Work permits on various turbine

control oil system such as control fluid tank,
1 governing rack, coolers, accumulator, valve
actuators, pumps and various interconnecting pipe
are closed and men, material are removed from
2 Ensure EH Oil tank level normal

3 Ensure sprinkler system in service.

Ensure local pressure, temperature, level gauges

4 and
transmitters are charged

Put on the power supply to the EH oil pump and

circulation pump
Put on the power supply to the local control panel
6 and check the indication bulbs are glowing.

Check the line up of the in line double filters

provided in the high pressure control system
Charge the control fluid oil coolers from water

side(CCCW Pr.> 0.4kg/cm2)
9 Put accumulator( 6nos.) in service

10 Put EH oil circulation pump in service

Put EH oil heaters in service. heater will start on
11 auto at temp.<30 deg.C and cut off at temp.>70
deg.C
Line up the EH oil to main turbine, TDBFP A&B by
12
opening supply valves.
13 Start EH oil pump

9. Operating Procedure:

3 Power supply module is ON. (TURBINE MCC).

4 Keep pumps ON/ OFF selection in ON i.e.
remote.
5 Pump suction valve is in open.
6 CCCW pump is in service
7 EH oil cooler, oil inlet valve is open.
8 EH cooler CW inlet, outlet valves are open.(ccw)
9 EH oil system CW main inlet, outlet valves are open
10 Recirculation filter inlet valve is open.
11 Stroke regulating valve set at %
Start Permissive
12 EH Oil temperature > 30˚c & 70˚c
13 EH oil tank level should be normal

Post start-up of EH oil pump

Check the discharge pressure (>93ks/cm2) and

motor current.
Check other EH oil pump availability and keep in
15 standby mode .standby pump starts when pressure
reaches 93 Kg/cm2
Keep the recirculation pump on auto after checking
16
its healthiness.
Trip oil will generate when main turbine is reset or
17
latched.
