Reflection

For my first block music technology project I created a google site for my schools

music program. This website was a type of database that had information for students

and their parents. We chose to create a google site over other website platforms

because Fox Mill ES is using google classroom as their virtually learning platform and

by using a google site it keeps it all within one platform.

The google site has many different resources on it. These resources included

Ms. O’Neils school schedule, powerpoints that tell the students background information

on myself and Ms. O’Neil. I then had a page with links to different resources including

websites for students to go to when they finished their works. I also provided links for

technology support, information on recorders, links to the school calendar and website.

One of the main aspects of making a successful site is to have it be very concise

and appealing to the eye. It took me a little while to learn how to format google sites but

I was able to upload jpegs of the names of the links in different colorful shapes that

clearly marked where they would go. I then linked the picture to the website or google

document that it would take them too.

There were some challenges creating the google site. I wanted to make sure

everything was clearly labeled and color coded for easy access and use. Because I
uploaded the jpegs I did have some difficulty making sure they were all the same size,

but with some adjustments was able to figure that out.

This website was posted into each of the music grades’ google classrooms. The

students were then able to access it and explore it on their own and with their parents.

One thing that is really nice about the website is that is can always be adapted and

since it is through google, Ms. O’Neil can make edits to it after I leave.
