Manager
Role Description
Based at the IIRC office in central London and reporting to senior management, the Media and
Communications Manager will be responsible for delivering communication and media relations
activities to support the IIRC’s key strategic themes, including increasing the pace and scale of
<IR> adoption, communicating best practice and guidance on reporting, and highlighting how
corporate reporting is relevant to investment decisions and can influence global policy.

This role directly contributes to a range of outcomes including:


 Increased awareness of <IR> in key markets and sectors
 Highlighting advocates of <IR> among leading organizations
 Showcasing leading practice in reporting
 Communicating key policy positions in the media to make explicit linkages between <IR>,
corporate governance and stewardship.

Specifically, the role will have the following main duties and responsibilities:
 Developing and delivering successful targeted media relations campaigns
 Providing oversight of the IIRC’s digital media presence
 Advising on communications planning and messaging for impact, to ensure consistency
with the <IR> brand positioning
 Working with partners and supporting organizations in order to communicate through
their networks and channels
 Monitoring coverage on <IR> and related themes around the globe and assessing how
these can best be leveraged to the IIRC’s advantage
 Working closely with internal team members internationally to ensure a coherent and
consistent approach to communication, identifying and developing key messages and
engagement initiatives
 Measuring the success of communication initiatives towards the IIRC’s overall objective.

Candidate Specification
The candidate will have a track record in delivering communications programmes, working closely
with a range of stakeholders. A creative thinker, the successful candidate will also have:
 Skills and experience in managing communications plans and delivery, including
producing content for publications with and through third parties
 Ability to foster, maintain and leverage relationships within the media in an international
context

 Experience in developing and managing digital and social media platforms and
programmes, including include briefing and managing external agencies and writers
 Strong copywriting, editing and proof-reading skills
 Experience of drafting clear, consistent, targeted messages for internal and external
audiences in an organization with a complex range of stakeholders and/or targets
 An understanding of financial services or corporate reporting environment is desirable
 Strong interpersonal skills, proactive and assertive, able to collaborate effectively with
internal and external stakeholders
 Experience of working under pressure to tight deadlines and juggling a range of priorities
 The ability to handle sensitive and confidential material with tact and diplomacy.

IIRC salaries are benchmarked against comparable organizations in the not-for-profit sector. The
