Job Description

Teacher (Assistant)

Creative Hands is seeking a motivated professional that is passionate about early education to
join our school as a Preschool Assistant Teacher. In this position, you assist the primary
classroom teacher with activities and learning exercises and help them maintain a friendly,
inclusive atmosphere for all students. Depending on needs and class sizes, you may take small
groups of students aside for separate activities. You also help maintain student records of
behavior and progress and keep parents up-to-date on their child’s development and learning.

Reports to lead teacher

Minimum education and experience

At least 18 years of age; diploma/ level 1-3 in early childhood education, 2 or more years of
child care experience first Aid certifications, caring and compassionate attitude is a must.

Salary 35k monthly

The essential duties of an assistant teacher at Creative Hands ECI are to:

1. Assist primary teacher with activities and instruction

2. Maintain records of student progress and needs
3. Help keep learning areas tidy and safe
4. Provide a welcoming, inclusive learning atmosphere for all students
5. Support children with special or individual needs
6. Organize learning centers in the classroom for children to engage in free play and to use as
reinforcement of concepts taught.
7. Collaborate with teachers to monitor the development of each child

Job Description

8. Understand the teacher's routine when it comes to delivering a lesson plan and running the
class in the event that the teacher is absent on a particular day
9. Work with children in the classroom to promote their learning and development
10. Communicate with parents and keep them informed about their child's development and any
changes to the regular day-to-day schedule

Physical Requirements:

1. Be able to lift 30 pounds

2. Be able to bend, stoop or kneel to achieve children’s eye-level
3. Be able to sit on the floor and/or child-sized chairs
4. Be able to spend at least 1 hour at a time outdoors throughout the year
5. Be able to write notes, newsletter articles using standard English
