1. INTRODUCTION TO FINANCIAL MARKETS:-

In the Week 1 of the course titled as Equity Markets, i learned about stock
exchanges and how does stock trading works, bull and bear market, about
dividends, also what does beta means, and the different types of orders in a stock
market, importance of diversification and basic trading rules.
In the Week 2 of the course titled as Currency Markets, we were exposed to
currency markets and different currencies traded in these markets. Then they gave
given a brief overview on how to trade in the currency markets. I learned about
forex market and what does liquidity refers to, also what is base currency and
counter currency.

In the Week 3 of the course 1, which is Fixed Income Markets, I learned about
bonds, Various types of fixed income securities available in the market, and the
bond terminology, types of interest rates, and why bond prices fluctuate?,
redeeming the bond, calling a bond, bond rating, treasury securities and its types,
municipal bonds, agency bonds, local authority bonds.

In the Week 4 of the course, titled as Macroeconomic Fundamentals, focuses


on key economic indicators that are monitored closely by the finance community
like the consumer confidence index, GDP, consumer price index, producer price
index.

The course was completed on 28/05/2020 with all the quizzes and scored
85%.

2. PORTFOLIO AND RISK MANAGEMENT:-

This course presents an overview of the basic concepts and techniques used to
construct financial portfolios and about the investment process and get a very
good understanding of economic, industry, and company analyses. And looked at
understanding and interpreting major portfolio management and risk concepts.

Week 1 of the course named as Basics of Investments, focused on steps involved


in investment process, and the investment philosophies (Market timing v/s asset
selection philosophy, and Passive v/s activist investing philosophy), present value
and future value concept, annuities and its types and how to calculate it, shortcuts
for valuing annuities and perpetuities, also about perpetuity and lastly about
Week 3 utility theory.

Day 1-7 In the Week 2 of the course titled as Concept of Risk and Return, concept of
portfolio math and the concept of diversification were introduced. And how to
construct the investment opportunity set with risky assets and risk-free asset and
then introduced to the concept of Market portfolio and the Capital market line and
the types of risk, and two-step allocation process and the CAPM MODEL
(Capital Asset Pricing Model) and its assumptions.

Week 3 of the course Understanding Investments module introduces the CAPM


model mathematically and the concept of Beta and how to calculate the Beta of a
security and introduced to arbitrage pricing theory and the major differences
between Multi-factor model and Asset Pricing Models.

In the Week 4 of the course Security Analysis, the main focus of this module is
portfolio performance evaluation, the 3 risk factors, and learnt equity valuation
like Sharpe measure of a portfolio and Treynor’s measure and Jensen’s measure.
I completed the course on 25/6/2020 and scored 92%.

3. BEHAVIOURAL INVESTING:-

Now I started with the course 3 of the specialization “Behavioral Investing”.


Through this course, I learnt how individuals and firms make financial decisions,
and how those decisions might deviate from those predicted by traditional
financial or economic theory and explored the nature of these biases and their
origins, using insights from psychology, neurosciences and experimental
economics.

Week 1 of the course Behavioral Biases in Finance – Part1 started with the
types of biases happens in finance. The types of biases which I learnt in week 1
are: - overconfidence bias, anchoring and adjustment bias, cognitive dissonance,
availability bias, self-attribution bias, and illusion of control bias.

Week 5 Week 2 of the course Behavioral Biases in Finance – Part2 discusses the
common behavioral biases experienced by individuals. All the biases are divided

into 3 parts. This module deals with the second part of biases such as
Conservatism, Ambiguity Aversion, Endowment, Self-control, Optimism, Mental
accounting, Confirmation and Loss aversion.

Week 6
Week 3 of the course Behavioral Biases in Finance – Part3, this module dealt

with the third part which discusses biases such as Hindsight, Recency, Regret
Aversion, Framing, Status Quo and sample size neglect.

In Week 4, Psychographic models in Finance, I learnt the 3 psychographic


models in behavioral finance and differentiate between them.

I completed the course on 06/07/2020 but received the certificate on


23/07/2020 and scored 94% in it.

4. INVESTMENT STRATEGY:-

In this week, I started with the course 4 also which is Investment Strategy,
this course is about the basic concepts of needs analysis, investment policy, asset
allocation, product selection, portfolio monitoring and re-balancing and also
learnt the basic concepts, principles, and the major styles of investing in
alternative assets, and finally, the impact of digitization on investment strategies.

Week 1 of the 4 course is Alternate Assets and Hedge funds, in this week I
learned about mutual funds, private equity funds, commodity pools and the
overview of the hedge funds.

In the Week 2 of the course Index Investing, I understood what index investing
means and was also able to define Beta and Alpha and can also find out a better
investment among a given set of investments.

In the Week 3 of the course Asset Allocation, I was able to understand the
difference between retail asset allocation and institutional asset allocation and the
importance of time horizon in defining risk and also about variance and leverage.

In the Week 4 of the course Risk, I learned the meaning of permanent loss of
capital and was able to evaluate the performance of funds and also learnt about
the process of marketing of the hedge fund and got a clear understanding of
distributional approach to investing in assets.

I completed the course on 21/07/2020 but received the certificate on


25/07/2020 and scored 90.42%.
