4. Course Description
Quantitative methods for making business decisions are an important component in a business
manager toolbox. This course is designed to introduce the fundamental concepts, principles and
techniques of solving and applying basic mathematical operations. The main idea is to develop
students’ understanding of algebra that is useful in modeling business management problems and
solving them. Emphasis is placed on understanding the geometric meaning of equations and
functions.

5. Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs)


(i) Student will able to solve the business problems algebraically.
(ii) Student will understand how to work in teams over business problems through algebraic
tools.

6. Assessment Task Description


a) Quizzes
Quizzes will be based on algebraic concepts and their application in the context of business
problems.
Quiz 1 will be based on Algebraic operations, Equation and Inequalities.
Quiz 2 will be based on Graphs, Functions, Polynomials and Rational Functions and their
Applications
Quiz 3 will be based on Exponential functions, System of Equations, Matrices and their
Business Applications

b) Assignment

1st Assignment will be on Algebraic operations, equations and inequalities.


2nd Assignment will be on Functions, Graphing functions and their Applications.

c) Examination
Two mid-terms and final exam will be conducted as per academic calendar based on the content
given in the course plan.
