Relief Valve (Signal Limiter Heavy Lift) - Test and Adjust

SMCS - 3210-025; 3210-081

S/N - 8AL1853-UP

S/N - 6ES237-UP

S/N - 8SS461-UP

Note: This procedure is used for machines that are equipped with the "heavy lift option". If the machine is
not equipped with the "heavy lift option", refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Relief Valve (Signal Limiter)".

The following procedure consists of two sections:

A testing and adjusting procedure for engine speed with the heavy lift circuit

A testing and adjusting procedure for the load sensing signal limiter valve

Both of the testing and adjusting procedures should be performed in order to ensure the optimum
performance of the heavy lift function. For testing and adjusting of the load sensing limiter valve alone, only
the second procedure is needed.

Heavy Lift Circuit (Engine Speed)

Test (M300 Technician)

NOTICE
Ensure that the maximum allowable engine rpm for the heavy lift is set
to the proper value of 1150 ± 50 rpm.

Higher rpm settings can result in serious damage to the machine.

1. Prior to any adjustment, refer to the "Preparations" section in Testing and Adjusting, "Operational
Checks".

3. Turn adjustment nut (3) clockwise until the nut contacts the stop in order to block piston (5) .

Note: When adjustment nut (3) is turned in, signal pressure from the heavy lift solenoid valve is no
longer required to achieve the pressure specification for heavy lift. The test should be done with the
heavy lift switch in the OFF position.

4. Tighten nut (4) while spindle (6) is held.
