1.0 Objective
Preparation of ball mill samples using lab ball mill which applies to common cement &
other cementitious material
2.0 Reference
Nil
3.0 Apparatus
3.1 Cylinder lab ball mill, capable of producing 11 kg of samples.
3.2 Disc lab ball mill, capable of producing 1 kg of samples.

4.0 Sample Preparation


4.1 All the samples size must be crushed below 5 mm size
4.2 All the samples used must be containing below 2% moisture in total.
4.3 All the samples must be pre mixed before putting into the lab ball mill.

5.0 Procedure ( Mixing procedure)


5.1 All raw materials must be mixed in one single container.
5.2 Then the materials will pour into the mixer.
5.3 The mixing need to be run at minimum 5 min in order to ensure homogenous mixing.
5.4 After the mixing, the mixes need to be stored in such a way that it is out of contact
from moisture.
5.5 Grinding of lab ball mill samples: put the pre mixed materials into the lab ball mill
5.6 Set the grinding time according to the required fineness.
5.7 Take the ball mill samples to test for fineness.
5.8 If the fineness is not up to the requirement, the grinding need to be continue until the
required fineness is achieved.
