Unit 1: 21st Century Learning, Learning with Google Street View.

The current education system has developed rapidly. Various new innovative methods
were introduced besides to make learning more effective because learning is very important for
mankind. This development makes the media dominate all aspects of life. Each individual with
various new media all online. Karpudewan et al. (2011) stated that education is very important to
sustain the future. It's a solution to informing us and starting to change our values and behavior.
Technological developments in education are able to answer questions about the impact of
technology in reconstructing the education system and the use of technology, in line with
learning theory. Meanwhile, the expansion of the use of computer facilities and other mass media
will encourage the rapid transfer of information.

Romiszowski (1992) confirmed that Educational Technology Media can be categorized

from the most commonly used equipment in schools, namely textbooks and whiteboards, to
modern media such as high-tech computer equipment, LCD, Internet and digital cameras. To do
this, students can gain a deeper understanding of the subjects being taught (Dimitrios et al.,
2005).

The end of the twentieth century the development of digital media technology can be
seen from the increasing number of computers - computers with sophisticated specifications, this
is a combination of digital image processing, computer graphics, multimedia technology, sensor
and measurement technology, virtual and artificial intelligence and other scientific disciplines in
one, building realistic virtual interactive three-dimensional space environment for people, and
respond to real-time activities or operations for people, which makes people feel like they are in
the real world. This will have a major impact on traditional multimedia teaching that
incorporates virtual reality technology into the teaching process, teaching multimedia from 2D to
3D interactions, and building highly simulated virtual teaching environments.

The use of VR technology in modern digital teaching can integrate multimedia, computer
graphics and artificial intelligence technology, can realize the creation of real situations, can
express the teaching content of three-dimensional space, environment and other distinctive
interpersonal exchanges. In the digital multimedia learning process, the use of VR technology
can make students more intuitive and natural to participate in a virtual environment, one example
of virtual reality as a learning medium is Google Street View. Google Street View is a web
mapping service developed by Google. The service provides satellite imagery, road maps, 360 °
panoramas, traffic conditions and route planning for travel by foot, car, bicycle or public
transport. Google Street View can be used as a medium in Site Map materials. Using media like
this can make it easier for teachers to teach. Students will not be bored in learning because they
can feel new things in learning
21stCentury Skills

21st century learning is the use of information and communication technology as a

medium of learning. In the 21st century, the world of work will require a change in competence
so that students are required to master critical thinking, problem-solving, creative and
collaborative skills, these four skills are called 4C or 21st century skills. Academic performance
occurs in line with developments in information communication technology (ICT) and global
economic growth. Rotherdam & Willingham (2009) note that a student's success depends on 21st
century skills, so students must learn to have them. Therefore, to deal with the phenomenon of
changing workforce needs and progress, all schools of all levels of education need to be prepared
and prepared to face the challenges of the 21st century. It is important to convey an
understanding of 21st century skills to students. The achievement of 21st century skills is done
by understanding the characteristics, achievement techniques and learning strategies being
undertaken.

Scientific Approach

Learning with a scientific approach is a student-centered learning process and involves a

scientific process in constructing concepts, laws and principles to improve students 'intellectual
abilities, especially students' thinking abilities in order to get high learning outcomes. Vygotsky,
in his theory states that learning occurs when students work or learn to handle tasks that have not
been studied but those tasks are still within the range of abilities or tasks are in the zone of
proximal development, the area lies between the current levels of child development that are
defined as problem-solving abilities under the guidance of more capable adults or peers.

Authentic Learning and Authentic Assessment

In carrying out learning activities, assessment has an important role to see the extent to
which the material described by the teacher and students is related. In the context of using the
Google Street View application as a learning medium that can be provided, namely through the
ability test to be able to find out how to show the direction of the place to go using English which
can be obtained after using this application as a learning medium.

Assessment has an important role to see students' ability to understand a material that has
been given by the teacher. In the context of using the Google Street application as a learning
medium that can be provided, namely through the vocabulary skills obtained after using the
Google Street application. There are several types in the assessment process, namely;

1. Formative Assessment

Formative assessments are made to obtain information about the learning process that has
been carried out. the purpose of formative assessment itself is to learn every development of the
student, and in E-Learning, the main purpose of formative assessment is to provide feedback to
students, which can be used to enhance the learning experience.

2. Summative Assessment

Summative assessment is designed as an evaluation of student learning and academic

performance at the end of the semester, through standardized comparisons. Summative
assessments usually have a higher score and are carried out under controlled conditions, resulting
in higher visibility. for example, such as the final exam of a semester or midterm exam.

3. Reflective Assessment

Reflective assessment means students are involved in the assessment process by asking
students to reflect individually or with other students on their own learning experiences, both
written and oral. This reflective assessment can be used to improve learning in students. In
addition, this assessment can also help evaluate any learning that students have done, through
their own reflection.

Review of Google Street Application

Google Street View is one of the Google Maps features and can also be downloaded
separately which can be used to view locations on the map and also in the world with 360
degrees. And we feel like we are in that location because we can see all around well. Actually,
Google street view can also be used as a learning medium. With the google street view as a
learning medium, students can see the real condition of an area without having to be in its place.
In addition, students will not feel bored and be more enthusiastic about learning. Even though
only through 3D google maps, students can gain insight and experience.

Tutorial of using Google Street View

Step 1. If you haven't downloaded the Google Street View application, you can download it in
the Playstore for Android and the Appstore for the Iphone.
