PRAN-RFL Group

PRAN-RFL Group (Bengali: াণ-আরএফএল প) is one of


the largest conglomerates in Bangladesh.[1] It is the largest
PRAN-RFL
agribusiness in Bangladesh.[2] PRAN (Bengali: াণ) means life in াণ-আরএফএল
Bengali.[3]

History
PRAN (Programme for Rural Advancement Nationally)[4] was
established in 1981 by retired Major General Amjad Khan
Chowdhury and has become one of the largest food and beverage
brands in Bangladesh.[5][6] PRAN pioneered agribusiness in
Bangladesh by providing farmers with guaranteed prices.[7]
PRAN Foods, a subsidiary of the PRAN-RFL Group,[8] produces
a number of agricultural products under the PRAN banner. PRAN
established a subsidiary company in UAE in 2003.[9] In 2008, the
company announced plans to open a production facility in Tripura, Logo of the PRAN-RFL Group,
India, after the Indian government lifted the ban on direct
investment from Bangladesh in 2007.[1] The PRAN group's Type Business enterprise
exports had reached 10 billion taka by 2016, with the biggest Inception 1981
markets for the company in India, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Website pranfoods.net (http://pran

exceeded US$500 million.[11] PRAN started exporting potatoes in www.rflbd.com (http://ww

and the first shipment, worth US$3 million, was sent to New
Zealand.[13] PRAN has 80 thousand direct employees and 200 thousand indirect employees.[14] PRAN
exports to over 118 different countries.[15]

Awards
Awards from the National Board of Revenue for being top VAT payer at the district level in the
2018-2019 financial year.[16]
