BIOETHICS ON COVID-19

SHOULD GOVERNMENTS LET THE VIRUS RUN ITS COURSE?

Unknown virus that affects the whole world, that causes thousands of death all over the
globe. This pandemic-Coronavirus, we didn’t expect it will bring chaos to us and our government,
hospitals, police, armies, even the people. All of us are not ready for this viral outbreak of Novel
Coronavirus also known as nCov-19 or COVID-19. All of us didn’t want this pandemic – coronavirus
and it’s hard to determine what time it will come to us, unlike typhoons that we can immediately
determine what time it will come, what place it could come and how to prevent what will be the
casualties. The Novel Coronavirus (nCOV -19 or COVID - 19) originated in the province of China in
Wuhan. When the first case of COVID – 19 was reported, the COVID – 19 quickly spread all over the
world and the first case of the COVID – 19 outside in China was in Thailand. Our government
underestimated the COVID – 19 didn’t do anything that COVID-19 will be spread to in our country.
The Government of the Philippines didn’t give information, until the first confirmed cases of Novel
Coronavirus (nCOV – 19 or COVID – 19) in the Philippines. The first confirmed case was a Chinese
nationality has a travel history in Hong kong. These first cases bring fears to the Filipino people that
cause panic buying. The COVID-19 spread all over the Philippines, it forces the government to
declare a lockdown first in the high confirmed cases in Metro-Manila, followed by entire Luzon, and
other provinces in the part of Visayas and Mindanao even there no threat of COVD – 19.

Nationwide lockdowns, governments around the world have been adopting different measures to
cope with the coronavirus crisis. While promoting of social distancing use due the COVID – 19 will
is transmitted, usually after close contact with an infected patient, for example, in a household
workplace, or health care center. The lockdown that the government used to prevent spreading of
the COVID – 19, the lockdown or home quarantine disallowed the people to go outside their home
regardless if getting necessities such as foods and hygiene kits. There’s no work, school are
cancelled, and any mass gathering due the lockdown regardless if the worker is on the
supermarket, convenience stores, gasoline station, banks, and other stores that bring basic
necessities. Closing different establishments give a huge impact through our economy. Our
government priority the health of every Filipino than the economy could possible will down due of
this pandemic coronavirus. While the lockdown still implemented the research is trying their best
to create a vaccine while the government slowing down the transmission rate of COVID-19. Based
on the article given, studies claim that most patients infected with Covid-19 recover in a matter of
days, and only a small number needs to be hospitalized, well what I’ve seen in the news and other
online platform it takes weeks or even months to recover in COVID – 19 and there’s a medium
percentage of dies the most died in COVID – 19 those are not physically fit. Those what a read in the
given article and what I’ve seen in news and online platforms, I would not agree to the government
letting the virus run it’s courses. In our country, many people argue that they will die in hunger not
in virus. People on the Philippines that violates the protocol of the lockdown it will cause more
problem to our government, these might result in more infected COVID – 19 and more deaths that
hospital can’t take it anymore because we're limited on our facilities.

What will happen if the government let the virus run its course? What if the students go back to
their school? Employees go back to work? What will happen to our country if this question happen?
On these coronavirus pandemic our economy is in threat as well life of people. Should we put our
lives to rise up the economy or priorities the heath of majority? As I can suggest should we used all
of the resource even it our economy will be down because economy will rise up again but the lives
of every people couldn’t bring back just like President Rodrigo Roa Duterte said if the money runs
out, generate money. This word he said it’s giving in my mind that the most important than the
economy is the lives of every person because COVID – 19 run its course may be human will be
extinct. The most needed of the Filipinos is self-discipline and appreciate what the government will
do to us and also the front liner's that giving their life for the profession they chosen also the in the
country. When we waiting to the vaccine the government should implement strict social distancing
and home quarantine to slowing down the transmission rate of COVID-19. We’ve seen on this
coronavirus pandemic the government didn’t let the virus run its course and it should not be let the
virus run its course.
