QUESTION NO # 01

BARRIERS TO CRITICAL THINKING

1. PEER PRESSURE:
After clearing matric I was asking my friends to take admission to the same college but
many of them denied but one accepted my words it and he selected the college that was
far from my area and was not affordable to me sue to my financial issues. But he told me
to pay my half fees so I can easily pay the fees but after 2 months he left the college and I
asked him why you left because it is too far I can not go without you so I was not able to
do anything so I had to leave as well. If I were aware of this barrier, I would have not
taken admissions in the college. But I learned that in the future if I face the same problem
so how I should react to that in a proper way.

2. POOR READING SKILLS:

When I joined college, I was bad at reading and learning and because of this, I faced
many crises in my studies. This issue made me unable to understand and solve the
queries. And this made me fail 5 monthly tests at my coaching because the papers were
based on summaries and case studies. If I would have studied this barrier so I would have
not failed my tests, and I have overcome that issue on time, but now I will manage not to
do it again and I will priorities working this.

3. DENIAL:
When I was working at the RO plant I used to eat out, side home and most of the time I
ate spicy and fast food. I was forbidden by my elders but still, I did not accept their
suggestion and this habit become the reason for my stomach infection and I faced too
much pain because of this I was unable to eat properly because I felt pain in my stomach.
If I were aware of this barrier that denying things just for my own choice makes things

worse so I would have accepted my elder’s word. But I learned that what I had done was
not good for health so, in the future, I will try not to eat outside the house.

4. BIASES:
I used to teach students of 2 to 6 class and I was honest with them but when my cousin
took admission at my coaching so I turned into a biased person and I just started focusing
on him because he was my family member I did not scold him or anything and just
because of this 9 students of mine got failed in the exams and it was all my fault I did not
focus on him. I was not aware too of the barrier if I would have known it that it can create
that many problems, biased I had not done this. But I have learned this that I will try to
focus on every student and will not teach my family Childs.

5. SCAPEGOATING:
We had a presentation at university and we had 6 members of our group we had prepared
well and we were confident to give it. While presentation electricity shut down and we
have to give it manually and we did not perform well, because no one has read the slides
and the become the reason of it, and they all blamed me for not doing good because I am
weak in English but except me all knew English but they failed to speak. I turned into the
culprit because of my weak English. If had studied this barrier so I would have overcome
this issue. But now I have started English classes to improve my English skills.

QUESTION NO# 02

a) CONCLUSION:
A new medical test that allows the early detection of a particular disease will prevent the
deaths of people all over the world who would otherwise die from the disease

b) PREMISES:
The test has been extremely effective in allowing doctors to diagnose the disease six
months to a year before it would have been spotted by conventional means.

c) ASSUMPTIONS:
1. Earlier detection of disease will decrease the death rates.
2. Test before six month or a year will prevent the death rate from the
disease.

3) FALSE ALTERNATIVES
4) QUESTIONABLE CAUSE

E) The argument would be strengthened in a way that if the author would have said that the tests
have been actualized and all the doctors around the world are proficient of this test, and the
initial treatment can easily heal or negate the infection and will rescue the patients, and
assessment process is very easy and attainable for everyone and medication will promptly pursue
the test for the health of this disease.
