ABSTRACT
The main focus of this study research was to obtain a deeper understanding about
the solid waste management program. The research aimed to assess the effectiveness of
solid waste management program in the Barangay Balucuc. The purpose was to gain new
information which would better to know if the implementation of the program was really
effective.
The method applied in this research was case study along with non-probability
sampling. The sample size is one hundred. The research was conducted in Barangay
Balucuc.
Results of the study showed that the implementation of solid waste management
in Barangay Balucuc is effective not very effective because there are some citizens who
are complaining about the process of collection of garbage. Even though solid waste
management program is implemented there is still uncollected garbage in a certain area
and the citizens are not aware if the garbage truck or the garbage collector is already there
because of the inconsistency of time. But despite of these scenarios the implementation of
solid waste management reduces the piling of garbage in one area. The amount of
garbage decreases because of the program.
The following recommendations are offered: (1) the solid waste management
committee and barangay officials should plan for everyday collection so that the garbage
will not pile up. (2) The garbage collectors should have an announcement or sign when
the garbage collector’s arrived. (3) The barangay officials and the solid waste
management committee should provide an additional truck in collecting the garbage. (4)
The garbage collectors should have an enough time in collecting the garbage so that there
is no garbage will leave.

We are the Grade 12 students of Balucuc High School who are currently doing a research
on the Effectiveness of Solid Waste Management Program in Barangay Balucuc. This
study is a major requirement for III subject. Relatively, we would like to ask your
permission to interview the citizens of Barangay Balucuc to know the effectiveness of the
implemented program.
If you choose to participate in this study, we will schedule a time to meet with you at the
most convenient time. During this time, we would like to audiotape the interview in order
to focus on the conversation. Only group will have access to the tape. The recordings will
be transcribed and we will remove any identifiers during the transcriptions. The tape will
then erased and your identity will be kept confidential and will not be revealed in the
final manuscript.
We will contact you again in a few days to clarify and answer any questions you have
about this project and possibly schedule an interview and observation time.
