 Characteristics, Nature and Functions of the English Language

-Based on my own understanding, language is voluntarily produced by a sound, in which it enable the
person to communicate with their ideas, feelings, and so on. As what Sinha (2017) said that, “There
are various characteristics of language that speaks its nature. These are the; Language is sound,
Language is linear, Language is systematic, Language is system of systems, Language is meaningful,
Language is arbitrary, Language is a system of contrast, Language is creative, Language is unique. In
addition, there are three functions of language, first, the informative shows approval and disapproval,
second, expressive it narrates the writer/speaker attitudes, and third, directive it is used in giving
commands or request. In conclusion, Language has been already part of the human life, wherein as
what I’ve said in the first sentence that, it enables the person to communicate with their thoughts and
so on.

 The system of language.

-According to Chelsea (2017), there are five (5) systems of languages, in which each of the systems
has its own convention, conservation, and so on. These are the, Phonetics and Phonology, when we
say phonetics and phonology it refers to a sound or sound patterns, in which it explores how the
sound are used, formed, and so on. Second, the Morphology and Lexicology, it refers to the structure
and formation of words, wherein the lexicology explores what the word is. Third, Syntax, refers to
how words are joined together to create phrases and clauses, in which it makes sentences. Fourthly,
Discourse Analysis, it refers to how the sentences connect, and how the connect to form text. And
five, Semantics, is the ability to explore the meaning of the words, in which it features to make
phrases and clauses. In conclusion, it helps the person to communicate well to others.

 What is a language-rich classroom?

-When we say language- rich classroom, the word itself it foster all aspect of languages, wherein these
aspects can help the young children to communicate well in their everdaylives. Some of the aspects
are the learning to use new vocabulary in speaking, in which enhance their thinking, skills, and most
importantly they will learn how to become patient. With that, children may link to the real world, in
which they can communicate with the other people. In conclusion, when the classroom has a

I’m thinking that language is very important in our daily living, in which it helps us to connect with other people.
And also

I’m thinking what is/are the nature of English language in terms of teaching and learning.

I’m wondering what is/are the characteristic, nature and functions of language. Because honestly, I don’t know
whats the nature of the language. And also I’m wondering how language can affect the way we speak to the other
people.
I’m noticing that language has its category, in which the people should follow those categories to avoid
misperception of pronouncing the words, and so on. You should be careful in pronouncing the word

I’m seeing that language is already part in the human life, wherein it enable a person to communicate with their
thoughts, feeling, and so on

I’m feeling that learning language can help not just us, but also our future students to know what is/are the proper
usage of language, how it is used and so on. In which later on their lives they can apply that.

I’m understanding that language is very important in our lives, in which it help us to communicate with other
people with correct usage of language, in which it may not affect to the person.

I noticed that language learning environment is important, in which it helps the young children to learn language
effectively. How the language learning environment does may create a great impact to the young children. And I
was wondering what is/are the things that I needed to know. I am not a smart person, but I am willing to learn
whatever it is. I am willing to provide and support what the needs of every learner’s. With that, I can help my
student in achieving their goals in life.

I’m seeing that through language learning environment, the young children may be able to apply it to the real
world, in which they can communicate/connect with other people.
