• Spearman – intelligence is the SINGLE FACTOR that enables problem solving and doing well in all areas of cognition
• Thurstone (1938)– there are 7 primary abilities: verbal, memory, numerical abilities, INDUCTIVE, word fluency, perceptual, SPATIAL
• Raymond Cattel – intelligence is crystalized and fluid (fluid is hereditary)
• Sternberg (1991) – componential, experiential and contextual (sociological)
• Sternberg (2004) – global capacity to act purposely, to think rationally, and deal effectively with the immediate environment

• Since intelligence is a mental facet, it’s necessary to not only possess
the ability but to drive to learn, re-learn and unlearn.
