HOMES
PROJECT
INTRODUCTION
The pictures on the right side shows the inside and out of a typical reed house that many families call
a home in the heart of Moamba. A complete family with father , mother and children are living in
these conditions. This small reed house serves most of their home needs from entertaining visititors,
cooking when its raining outside, and sleeping when its dark. What you are seeing their its kitchen,
seating, dining and bedroom at the same time.
Some of the girls that we have houses at our dormitories on the center are actualy coming from
these houses where they are coming from. after we hae given them a room with all the basic ameni-
ties but during the holidays wen they go back home they are going to sleep in the same squalid con-
ditions, and we felt that we could stretch ourselves a little bit. We can do our best to teach them all
we can, but if the home conditions where they are going back to live are in this condition we fear
that the education may not make a difference. We want to create an environment where they can
be natured to grow and do better with the input that we are investing in them by helping create a
better home environment.
We feel that a home like this is not conducive for naturing talent and excellence in academics, for
our girls and all the other memebrs of the community at large. Many children attending school are
actuly coming from these reed houses. But we are not saying that there are not a few beautiful
houses in existence, the difference is overwhelming though.
We would like to invite you to join us in yet another opportunity to change the lives of a few more
people, this time around we are putting a roof over their heads and walls around to cover them.

There as well some elderly people who are living in the com-
munity whom we do not have enough room to accommo-
date at the center and with this project that’s how we are
trying to cover them also and give them a more decent place
to call home.
