Bangladesh should maintain strict lockdown procedures

With the outbreak of novel coronavirus (Covid 19) declared a pandemic and an

international public health emergency by the (WHO), the entire world is working hard

to find the vaccine. it. It is a rapidly evolving and emerging situation. So far till now

nearly two million people in 185 countries around the globe have been identified as

confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) . As the coronavirus

outbreak quickly surges worldwide, many countries are adopting non-therapeutic

preventive measures, which include travel bans, country lockdown, and most

importantly social distancing. However, these measures face challenges in

Bangladesh, a lower-middle-income economy with one of the world's densest

populations. So its very difficult to maintain these measures. To maintain social

distance until the coronavirus pandemic is over, Bangladesh should maintain strict

lockdown.

There are as yet no vaccines or antiviral drugs approved for the disease, so people

cant prevent to spreading the virus. Bangladesh did not impose any strict protocol

initially , and millions of people were out on the streets, especially in Dhaka, which is

a mega city with 46 thousand people living per square kilometer. At now Bangladesh

had reported 153 cases and 2.2 deaths per million population. Around 60% of the

reported cases were from Dhaka city and about 80% from Dhaka division. The only

way to not spreading the virus is social distancing and country like Bangladesh with a
big population cant maintain social distancing they went out and want to go to work

to support his/her family. But they have to understand the fact only social distancing

and maintain safety major can help to get out from this pandemic and for that

lockdown must be followed till then pandemic is over.

Bangladesh has inadequacy of COVID-19 Testing Facilities and preventing measures.

Five weeks after the detection of the first COVID-19 case in Bangladesh, the IEDCR

had only tested 11,223 people, constituting approximately 68 tests per million

population . It is perhaps among the worst-ranked countries for nCoV-2 testing rate.

Bangladesh isnt fully developed country like China,USA. So Govt. The health system

of Bangladesh depends on around 100 thousand registered doctors, and if these very

few doctors compared to the population size are unable to provide their healthcare

service as a result of the unavailability of PPE, this could have potentially

consequences. So government have to fight against this virus with their ability as they

can not prepare a doctor over a day, what can government do is ensuring the social

distance and lockdown very hardly.

However, the pandemic is not yet over, and if the lockdown stated till the pandemic

over then a huge number of people cant live without food or income. As Bangladesh

is a poor country , a huge number of people are workers they manage their family

with their daily earning . If the lockdown continued they don’t have any income and

they cant manage their family. Also the middle earned people cant adjust. Many

people will lose their job they cant get their salary, so its difficult for him to pay

rent ,buying foods and handle other expense of his/her family. In the other country as

example Canada was in totally lockdown and the government provide food and health
security measures door to door. But country like Bangladesh cant effort it, so

lockdown is the way for come over this virus but also it can be very disaster for

lower/middle income people.

Preparedness is the key to addressing any health crisis, and so far, Bangladesh, as a

lower-middle-income country, has numerous limitations in restricting the spread of

the virus. While continuing the lockdown at any cost with more strict maintenance,

the country has to expand its testing and health care facilities. The Government will

not be able to mitigate the situation alone , individual efforts needed from the citizens.

Government can announce lockdown but citigen should follow it, every people in the

earth facing the same situation so its needed to their own job to prevent this virus.
