There are four executable files on the CD supplied that are required to update Magellan 2
You will need to log into Windows as an administrator on the IDC workstation to update
Magellan 2.0.
Before running the update installation program, ensure that all IDC camera-operating software is
shut down. The Magellan 2 Application must be completely shut down and the Application
Launcher for Magellan is no longer available.

1. IDC Xplorer Update
The IDC Xplorer Update is the first file you need to install. This file contains components
that are necessary for the Magellan 2 Acquisition Interface to run correctly. Before
running the update installation program, ensure the Security Dongle is connected to the
computer’s USB port.
** Before running the update installation program, ensure the Magellan 2 Application has
been completely shut down and the Application Launcher for Magellan is no longer
available.
11. Shut down the Magellan 2 Application and ensure that the Application
Launcher for Magellan 2 is no longer available.
22. Open the CD supplied.
33. Double click on IDC Xplorer 2.2.0.66.exe to begin installation. You will be
presented with a dialog box.
14. After a minute or two, another dialog appears and waits for your choice as
follows:
Select ‘Repair’ and click ‘Next’ to continue.
5. Allow the installation process to continue without interruption. Wait for the
next screen.
6. You will be presented the following Maintenance Complete screen.
Click ‘Finish’ to end the Xplorer update installation.
3. Magellan Hotfix
** Before running the update installation program, ensure the Magellan 2 Application has
been completely shut down and the Application Launcher for Magellan is no longer
available.
1. Double click the IDC Magellan 2.0.96 Hot Fix.exe file.
2. A dialog box appears confirming location of file to be extracted.
3. Ensure the location displays the following: C:\Magellan2\
4. Click Unzip button.
5. Click OK to the dialog box that says “1 file unzipped successfully”
6. Click the close button from the first dialog box.
7. In the Magellan user interface, click on the wrench icon (top right), select
Institutions Settings, and change the “Image Cache Size” number from 5 to 2.
4. FnumWizard
** Before running the update installation program, ensure the Magellan 2 Application has
been completely shut down and the Application Launcher for Magellan is no longer
available.
Run this program when you have time to calibrate the f number for the system.
You may run this program at a later date if you do not have time for the calibration.
When you double click the file fnumwizard.exe, the wizard will take you through several
steps to calibrate the f number. Follow each step carefully.
You will require a radiation meter and 1 mm of Copper.
