Past Continuous Tense


Past Continuous Tense is used to describe a continuing action or state that was happening at some
point in the past.
Form “Be” followed by ANA (Adjective, Noun, Adverb)
  affirmative Negative question
I I was being I am not being Am I being …. ?
he/she/it He was being He is not being Is he being ……. ?
you/we/they You were being You are not being Are you …….. ?

Form “Verb”
  affirmative negative question
I I was making I was not making Was I making …?
you/we/they You were talking You were not talking Were you talking …?
he/she/it He was visiting He was visiting Was he visiting ….?

Example:

1. (+) She was being upset because she got bad score on her last exam.
(-) She was not being upset because she didn’t get bad score on her last exam.
(?) Was she being upset because she got bad score on her last exam?

2. (+) You were calling your friend before I came home yesterday at 10 PM.
(-) You were not calling your friend before I came home yesterday at 10 PM.
(?) Were you calling your friend before I came home yesterday at 10 PM?
