Science
 Science:- is the systematic way of getting knowledge about the natural world and social aspects of the
society.
 Classification of science:- There are two groups of science namely
1. Natural Science/biology, physics and chemistry etc
2. Social Science/Geography, History, Civics etc
 Living things:- Are organisms which show properties of life
 Life:- is characteristics of organism that makes them alive.
 Biology:- is a branch of natural Science that deals with living things. The word biology is
derived from two Greek words:- Bios means life and logos /knowledge/ study
 Biologist:- person who study about the science of biology.
Branches of biology
Even if there are many braches of biology the following are the three main branches of Biology. These are:-
1. Botany = Study about plant species and their characteristics
2. Zoology = Study about Animal species and their characteristics’
3. Microbiology = Study about micro-organisms and their character
 Botanist = a person who study about botany
 Zoologist = a person who study about zoology
 Micro-organisms = are very small organism which cannot be seen by our naked eyes, instead
they can be observed by the help of a microscope.
