Montane Forest

• Occur above 750m elevation


• Brunei highest peak is Mount Pagon 1850 m
• 7196 ha, recognised as lower and upper montane forest
Mixed Dipterocarp Forest

• 192,000 ha mixed dipterocarp forest about


33% of land area
•Approximately 300m from sea level and on
the hills up to 750-1200m elevation
• Trees generally 25-45 m tall. The tallest tree
in the tropical rain forest may grow over 60 m high
• Rich in species
Heath (Kerangas) Forest

• Infertile, base-poor, highly acidic, predominantly sandy soil


The trees are generally shorter, smaller and form a low, uniform canopy
