Introduction

Excel Construction Ltd. was incorporated in 1992 as a Joint


Venture between the Madhvani Group Ltd. and Gomba
Construction Company Ltd and by virtue of majority
shareholding is a Ugandan Construction Firm.
The company operates nationally and regionally from its
Head Office in Jinja and liaison Office in Kampala and is one
of the leading players in the Ugandan Construction Industry.
As a Venture partner with Madhvani Group Ltd. that is at the
forefront of industrial development in Uganda and the region,
Excel has access and support to :

HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT

• Strict HSE Controls are put in place to ensure a conducive work environment for employees.
• Strict HSE Procedures and Policies are put in place to ensure minimal negative impacts of
the Company’s project activities to the community.
• All workers are provided with the basic and task specific PPE
and are regularly trained on optimal usage of the PPE.
• Toolbox talks are held everyday on site
• PPE Signages are also put up at strategic points on the project
site and in the Company’s camp.

hazards expected on site and the nature of PPE to be used in
order to mitigate risks associated with particular project
INVOLVEMENT OF STAKEHOLDERS

• Local leaders are informed about the project and are also involved during
execution of the project. This is done in order to ensure smooth implementation
of the project specific Social Management Plan. The local leaders are also
invited to participate in monthly site meetings.
CODE OF CONDUCT

• Code of conduct for personnel is provided on site.


In the Code of conduct several unacceptable acts
are addressed to shape the behaviour of workers
e.g. sexual harassment, child abuse, violence, abuse
of human rights, substance abuse, HSE violations, etc
