1 About this manual
This document has been created for CSU 502 software version V4.0. The document is
updated only when necessary when new software versions are released.

Upgrading a power system usually results in improving its operations by replacing the
CSU 502 controller software or by activating additional features.

2 Updating the CSU 502 software

2.1 Uploading the software

The CSU 502 software can be updated using the Hyper Terminal application, when a new
software version has been released.

Step 1 Connect your PC with the CSU 502 controller using a USB cable.

Step 2 On your PC go to Accessories → Communications → Hyper Terminal.

Step 3 Start a new connection. Adjust the following settings in the “Port settings”
dialog: 115200 bits per second, 8 data bits, no parity check, 1 stop bit and no
flow control for the connected port.

Step 4 Click “OK” to establish the connection.

Step 5 Press the “X” key to update the software.

Step 6 Press “2” to execute the program.

Step 7 In the Hyper Terminal window, go to Transfer → Send File and browse for
the *.bin file. Select “Ymodem” as protocol.

Step 8 Click “Send” to start the updating process.
