This information which is in the Student Assessment pack is to be handed to each student to outline the assessment
requirements

Student Instructions

This assessment is to be undertaken in a fully equipped aged care facility.

For this assessment, you are to be observed on 3 separate occasions (2 observations by your
assessor, and 1 observation by your workplace supervisor). For this assessment, you will need
to facilitate the empowerment of older people in a workplace or simulated environment.

1. For this task you are required to responded to the goals and aspirations of at least 2
older people, 1 in a simulated environment and 1 in the workplace, by:
a. Employing flexible, adaptable and person-centred approaches to empower each
older person
b. Recognising and responding appropriately to situations of risk or potential risk
c. Using oral communication skills to maintain positive and respectful relationships

In order to do this you will need to:

a. Performing in a manner that promotes trust and goodwill
b. Identifying social, cultural and spiritual needs and respect each one
c. Remaining confidential and private with all communications and reporting

ASSESSMENT TASK 2 – WRITTEN TEST


This information which is in the Student Assessment pack is to be handed to each student to outline the assessment
requirements.

Student Instructions

This is an open book written test. Therefore, you are allowed to bring books/ resources that
can help you to answer the test.

Your assessor will set a date and time for this open book written test.

On the test date:


1. Your assessor will set ground rules including no phones, talking, etc.
2. Your assessor will pass a copy of the assessment to you.
3. Your assessor will allow time for reading and questions before commencing
assessment.
4. You will have 1.5 hours for this assessment. Your are not to leave the classroom within
15 minutes of commencement of the assessment.
5. Once assessment has commenced, no communication between students is allowed.
6. If you repeatedly talk, or are caught cheating, you will be removed from the classroom,
and reported to student administration. Your assessment will be marked as “incomplete”
7. Remember – assessments are a participatory process, so your assessor can help re-
word questions, but cannot lead to answers.
8. Once completed, your assessment will be marked accordingly.
9. In the event that a question is not answered correctly, your assessor will discuss the
response with you to determine if you did not know the answer, or did not understand the

Positive,active and health Aging (AHA) is defined as the method of improving wellbeing,
commitment, and safety opportunities in aims to enhance the quality of life. Rowe and Kahn's
Adequate Aging model is the approach most commonly used to calculate AHA..

b Rights-based approaches

A rights-based approach to development is a promising application advocated by several development


agencies and non-governmental organisations to effect a positive shift in the ties of power between the
different development actors.

c Consumer directed care or person centred care

In the CDC, the function of the medical team should be to help recognise and offer any assistance to
make their own care choices required to encourage the patients . This includes a focus on enhancing
the consumer's health literacy

In late life, older adults can develop abilities, but acquiring those abilities may take more time than
those in younger adults. The saying "you can't teach new tricks to an old dog" is a fallacy.
Myth #1: The older don't get acquainted around the world.
Myth #2: With intimate relationships, Old people don't get involved.
Myth #3: It's too late to adjust if you are still old.

a Residential aged care sector

A variety of providers, from non-profit, private and public sector agencies, offer residential care
services. Continuous supported services ranging from assistance with everyday duties and personal
care to 24-hour nursing care is offered by private aged care homes. Services for respite treatment and
palliative care

b Home and community support sector

Home and Community Care (HACC) facilities are open to people living in the community who are
elderly and disadvantaged and their caregivers. HACC programmes are collectively provided and
delivered at discounted rates by the Commonwealth and state governments.

11 What are duty of care requirements?

The duty of care is specifically defined as a moral obligation to always perform in the best interests
of persons and others. Do not behave or fail to treat yourself in a way that causes harm. Act
throughout any jurisdiction and should not undertake on something you really not feel you can really
do safely.

12 List at least four support services for older people.

Personal treatment, for example, getting out them from bed, showering, washing and control
the medicine timing.
Household assistance, such as laundry, preparing of meals for them 
Career support:  For 4 hours or more, the one who stays with them and takes care of them
every day .
At home, facilities to assist with your defense .

Bones: Older people can be fragile that had brittle bones.  significant injury, lack of autonomy,
paralysis and even death may be also happened .
Hair: Ageing is commonly associated with hair loss and greying. By age 50, receding hairlines and
smoothing of the hair are predominant.
Skin: At the age of 40 or 50, Age patches and lines are apparent  and the skin is less elastic. In the
arms, face and neck, lines and stretch marks are most prevalent.
