Answer the following questions: Part 1 before reading the article “10 Golden Rules to
Professional Ethics in the Workplace” and Part 2 after reading the article.

1. Pre-reading:
a) How would you (in your own words) define the concept of “professionalism”?

BEFORE:
For me that virtue represents knowing how to correctly execute all the different pillars of
the corresponding work, talk, trade, among others.

b) Have you had the opportunity to demonstrate professionalism, in some capacity, in

your life so far? If yes, how so?

BEFORE: Throughout my life I have had multiple opportunities to demonstrate

professionalism, in different situations and contexts. For me it is about demonstrating
authority and knowledge with appropriate language depending on the scenario

c) How would you (in your own words) define “ethics”? and in your opinion, how do we
develop the ethics we have? How is being ethical important and/or beneficial in our
lives (personally, professionally)?

BEFORE: The meaning of ethics in my words corresponds to knowing how to recognize

what is bad and what is good. From my point of view, the ethics of a person is born at
home and it is your family that gives you 50% of ethics, the other 50% I consider that it
is created through our life experiences and what we can observe, see and conclude in
all the scenarios of our life. When a person has a correct and strong ethic, the first to
benefit is the person himself, since he will have mental health. In the eyes of the
world, the person who has good ethics before a good job is more loved, more
admired, not for what he has for what he is as a person.

d) Do you consider yourself an ethical person_ How does that show itself in your life?

BEFORE: Yes, I consider myself an ethical person, and that in my life represents peace
of mind, and I feel that I am building my best version, not for work for the community.
e) Based upon your life experience, what is an example of a situation you have faced that
tested or challenged your ethics?

BEFORE: A personal example is when I go to a restaurant, I have always respected all

people regardless of the job they have, a job does not make you more or less a person,
we are all the same.
I care to be respectful and to talk to him looking at his face so as not to make him feel
less, all people are fighting their own wars.
