Maintenance Activities for Object Parts – Catalog Maintenance

We can have an equipment, and while doing a maintenance activity on the
equipment itself, we can also perform maintenance activities on its parts.
Create Equipment = IE01, in the equipment we need to maintain Catalog, which
can be created as below:
1 - Catalog Create = QS41 (mainly a QM transaction), basically this is the
configuration part. Here we are assigning the component parts to the
equipment.
Catalog = B (object part)
Click on New Entries
Code = the equipment which can be serviced
Short Text =
Status = released

Select the line and double click on button “Code” in left pane

Click on New Entries

Enter the part list, as many parts as needed and then save.
Once Object parts Catalog has been created, we now need to list out the tasks
that need to be carried out, like cleaning, checking etc…
So again go back to Catalog create transaction = QS41
Catalog = 2 (Tasks)
Click on New Entries
Code = Enter the same equipment
Short Text =
Status = released

Select the line and double click on button “Code” in left pane
Click on New Entries
Enter the activities, like to check the part, to repair or replace the part
A decision is involved based on the activity of checking the part, whether it
needs repair or replacement
So for this decision, we need to create another catalog

So again go back to Catalog create transaction = QS41

Catalog = A (PM Activities)
Click on New Entries
Code = Enter the same equipment
Short Text =
Status = released

Select the line and double click on button “Code” in left pane
Click on New Entries
Enter the result of the activity, Part checked - Ok, Part Repaired / Replaced
After this we need another catalog setting called Coding
So again go back to Catalog create transaction = QS41
Catalog = D (Coding)
Click on New Entries
Code = Enter the same equipment
Short Text =
Status = released

Select the line and double click on button “Code” in left pane
Click on New Entries
Enter the coding = To Check
Now these are needed to be combined togather in a Catalog Profile

2 - Catalog Profile can be maintained in the configuration

Transaction = SPRO
Select the following node under logistics:
Plant maintenance & Customer Service
 Maintenance & Service Processing
  Maintenance & Service Notification
   Notification Creation
    Notification Content
     Define Catalog Profile
Click on New Entries
Catalog Profile = say the eqp
Press Enter, Double Click on the “Catalog / Catalog Groups” in the left pane

Click on New Entries

Catalog Catalog Groups
2 the eqp
A the eqp
B the eqp
D the eqp
And Press Save

3 - Maintenance Activities for Object Parts – Equipment Change

The catalog profile that we have just created now needs to be maintained in the
eqp created earlier.
Eqp Change = IE02
In the Organization Tab:
There is a field called Catalog Profile = Enter the name of catalog profile created
And Save the eqp
Next step is to create a task list
Create Eqp task List = IA01

In the operation, give the description of the operation like “Checking the whole
Eqp ….”, and the duration etc..
Save the task list.

4 - Maintenance Activities for Object Parts – Single Cycle Plan

Create Single Cycle Plan = IP41
Maint Plan Cat = PN maintenance notification
Cycle / Unit = 30/days
Cycle Text = monthly
Equipment = create earlier with catalog profile
Notification Type = M1 (maintenance request)
Assign the task list

Maintenance Plan Scheduling Parameters Tab:

Call Horizon = 100%
Scheduling Period = 180 Days (activity done for 6 months)
Save – maintenance plan is created
Now Schedule the maintenance plan
Maintenance Plan  Schedule, Press Start, and Okay
Select the first line, release the plan and save
5 - Maintenance Activities for Object Parts – Notification Change
Change Notification = IW22
Release the Notification
Add the text of the activity like:
Activity started to check the main eqp as per schedule and also checking its
various parts
If there were no parts we could just complete and close it, but now as we have
parts, so click on the items tab
So in the code column, you can select which item (part) needs to be checked, or
is being checked

Select the line and go to Tasks Tab

Again Select what task needs to be done? Checking, Repairing or Replacement

Select this line and go to Activity Tab

Again Select what activity needs to be done? Checking done - Ok, Repaired /
Replaced
Go back to the Task Tab
Select the line and Release, and close it. The Task status should change to TSCO
This way the activities can be done for a single or multiple parts.
