Problem Statement - How Might We? (HMW)

 How might we design the rehabilitation center for post-stroke victims through creating a healing
environment for them to recover and relearn abilities?

Five (5) indicators that the problem is existing;

1. Stroke is one of the leading medical conditions in the Philippines. Currently, over 500,000
Filipinos suffer from stroke annually.
2. The reasons for this include genetics, diet, lifestyle, the lack of community awareness of access to
preventative health care and also lack of involvement with the growing technology today.
3. Many stroke survivors return home, but some move into a medical facility or other rehabilitation
program. Post-stroke survivors experience countless of problems since the rehabilitation
management of stroke patients in the Philippines challenges remains due to existing
environmental, social, and local health system issues.
4. The duration of stroke rehabilitation depends on the severity of the stroke and related
complications. Some stroke survivors recover quickly. But most need some form of long-term
stroke rehabilitation, lasting possibly months or years after their stroke.
5. Researchers have found that people who participate in a focused stroke rehabilitation program
perform better than most people who don't have stroke rehabilitation.
- The rate of recovery is generally greatest in the weeks and months after a stroke. However,
there is evidence that performance can improve even 12 to 18 months after a stroke.
