Preliminary Round of BAJA SAEINDIA 2021

Guidelines

● The BAJA SAEINDIA 2021 Event is planned to be conducted in 2 legs. The first leg will kick
off with the Preliminary Round, wherein all the registered teams will showcase their
knowledge and readiness to successfully participate in the main event.
● Traditionally, The Virtual BAJA SAEINDIA acts as a pre‐qualifier to participation in the Main
BAJA SAEINDIA Event but for BAJA SAEINDIA 2021, it won’t be an elimination round,
however the scores obtained in “Preliminary Round of BAJA SAEINDIA 2021” would be
added to the total score obtained in all the events during Main BAJA event.
● The objectives of the Preliminary Round of BAJA SAEINDIA 2021 event are as follows:
➢ To acquaint the teams with the objectives of the BAJA SAEINDIA 2021 Event.
➢ The teams are required to familiarize themselves with the technical guidelines and
limits for the design of the BAJA Vehicle as per the latest rulebook.
➢ To lay down complete technical specifications of the proposed vehicle along with a
CAD model, selection of sub systems and execution of team plans.
● Preliminary Round of BAJA SAEINDIA 2021 would be tentatively conducted during the last
week of November 2020. Exact dates would be communicated in the coming weeks.
● Entire evaluation process would be conducted digitally on a Video Conferencing Software.
Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of the Video Conferencing Software would be
released soon.
● Maximum 5 team members per team that must include either Captain or Vice-Captain
would be allowed for the digital presentation round.
● One Faculty member, in addition to the team members, would be allowed only as a silent
observer in each of the sub events.
● Teams must strictly adhere to their respective timelines.
● Teams must prepare for the two sub-events—
1. Presentation of vehicle design, and 2. Quiz.
▪ Presentation - Maximum of 25 mins will be allotted per team to present their vehicle
design which includes,
➢ Allowing of Team Members and setting up of their presentation: 05 mins
➢ Presentation by team to showcase their design: 15 mins
➢ Questions put up by panel to be answered by the Team: 05 mins
▪ Quiz will consist of questions from General Engineering/ Automotive Engineering and
BAJA SAEINDIA 2021 Rulebook.
● OLD TEAM: The teams / colleges / institutions, which participated in the Main Event of
BAJA SAEINDIA 2019 and/or 2020 will be called as OLD TEAM. Participation in the Main
Event means the team must have built their BAJA vehicle, brought it to the main event
and had got their team registered at Pithampur or Punjab site for on‐site stages of
competition.
● NEW TEAM: The teams / colleges / institutions, which could not participate in the Main
Event of Baja SAEINDIA 2019 and/or 2020 will be called as NEW TEAM. Teams not covered
under OLD TEAM criteria will be considered as NEW TEAM.
TOTAL MARKS FOR PRESENTATION: 50 marks

FONT STYLE & SIZE: Students to use Font Style ‘’Calibri’’ and, Font Size to be “14 or above”.
Note: Do not scale page to fit, as this would reduce effective Font size below 14.
