I feel sad and happy at the same time ,after almost 29 years of service with
our district, I have decided to retire and take advantage of the district incen-
tive. I have worked for Standley many years, first from 2006 to 2009 and
“Lunch Lady” Patty Er- then from 2016 to 2020. Thank you Mr. Pearson for all your support these
past years; I truly believe I did a lot of good things for the school and I was able to provide a good
win service to all of you and I am very pleased for that. I am really going to miss all of you. We
Staff have good communication and we are team workers. You are great people to work with.

Product of the Month

ROKR Marble Parkour Wooden Puzzle

This product is essentially a 3D wooden puzzle that once
finished, can be operated to create a cool, working mar-
ble run. First of all, this product comes in thin wooden
sheets the size of a laptop. You pop out the pieces to
assemble the marble run. For anyone who likes putting
together LEGO technic sets, this is similar, but to anyone
else, this is hard to assemble. The wood pieces are thin,
so you can’t use too much force, or they will break (use
wood glue if you break
an irreplaceable piece).
There are extra pieces
for some of the parts, if
you lose or break one of
these parts, you might
be able to replace them.
If it is too arduous, then
get help from a parent,
or friend, and above all,
read the directions, it
will save you a lot of time and effort. Building it is hard
work, but it is well worth it, because once finished, this
machine can transport 10 provided marbles across an
assortment of rails, loops, and turns. This masterpiece
has many different elements that make it so interesting.
To begin with, there are two systems to carry the marble
back up, and down through the track. The first of these
lifting systems is a
gear with holes in it.
When a marble rolls
into the hole, the gear
turns, and the marble
falls onto a higher
track. The final lifting
device has 6 piston-
like steps that move
up and down, carrying
the marble higher and
higher, then back down to the main tracks. Additionally,
the marble run has two different paths, with a mecha-
nism that guides the marbles through each path. The
higher, more visible path is made up of a winding set of
track, that leads to a really cool spiral rail and back to the
climbing gear. The second, lower path consists of 2 long
rails that carry the marble lower and lower slowly, then
carries the marbles under the spiral rail from the first
path, and directly to the climbing gear. All-in-all, this
product is a little tricky to build, but it is well worth the
effort. The product is very strong, and is very high quali-
ty. The rails and gears make this a must-buy. You can

PTSA Reflections Essay Contest Continues On

Each year, more than 300,000 students at PTA schools throughout the USA create original works of art in response to a student-
selected theme. This 50+ year-old art competition helps them explore
their own thoughts, feelings and ideas; develop artistic literacy; increase
confidence; and find a love for learning that will help them become more
successful in school and in life.
Why Do I Matter?
Why do I matter, you may ask? I matter because I’ve experienced thirteen years of life. I matter because I’ve experienced
pain. I matter because I’m worth it. I matter because I’m human. Even through the days when I’m upset I know that I
matter. I matter, but some people don’t think they matter, they think that they’re a mistake, a waste of time. You’re defi-
nitely not a mistake and most importantly you matter whether you don’t think so because of the color of your skin or

Why I Love Playing Music

I love playing music on my clarinet for many reasons. Music is a widespread
art with many diverse genres. Music can link different people from different cul-
tures. One of the fundamental things in music is how an individual can provide a
tune with the rest of the band to create something beyond them. To be able to do this
you need an ensemble. Songs are also known to draw out an array of emotions that
people may have never felt.
When I play music there are no true emotions I receive. When I listen to songs
I get pulled away from reality. Playing music is a challenge, another reason I like
playing the clarinet. With such a wide range of melodies and themes, there’s no end
to all the challenges in store. One of the reasons I like playing the clarinet is because
of the challenges that come with it. To take part in a band is quite exciting. Perform-
ing with an ensemble can draw out the best in

worthwhile.
Music is at the core of most cultures.
Though we can’t play together in person, we still can online. Though the virtual
band can be confusing, it’s still the same stuff as last year. The same songs are being
played but in a different format. Though it’s more enjoyable to be able to play in
person, online isn’t extremely bad. Music is diverse and inviting to all; it can be fun
and energetic. That is why I love playing music .

Who is Santa Claus?

We all know the man with the white beard and red hat and suit. But who is he really?
Santa Claus is said to deliver presents to all the good children in the world on Christmas Eve, or early morning on Christmas. But way back when, there was no Santa around. Instead,
there was a fourth century Greek bishop named Saint Nicolas. Nicolas would give out presents to the poor on Christmas. Wikipedia states that “ He was very religious from an early age
and devoted his life entirely to Christianity.” He is mostly portrayed like Santa, a bearded bishop in canonical robes. Christmas was marked on December 25, to celebrate the birth of Jesus
Christ. There is no connection to Jesus Christ and Santa though.
In the United States and Canada, children traditionally leave a glass of milk and a
plate of cookies intended for Santa to consume; in Britain and Australia, sherry
or beer, and mince pies are left instead. In Denmark, Norway and Sweden, it is
common for children to leave him rice porridge with sugar and cinnamon instead.
In Ireland it is popular to leave Guinness or milk, along with Christmas pudding
or mince pies. Imagine cramming that all into your stomach! You’d have a pretty
bad stomach ache and be very portly for a while. I personally don’t get how he
does it.
Santa originally had 8 reindeer and it wasn't until 1939 that Rudolph came into
the scene to make 9. But through the years, lyrical confusion sparked a 10th
name to Santa’s herd. Olive, ‘The Other Reindeer’, has been taken from a misun-
derstanding on the lyrics of the ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’ song (bet you
that you sang that in your head). Instead of “All of the other reindeer”, some peo-
ple have thought it to be “Olive, the other reindeer” and so this mistake has gen-
erated a new reindeer character. The names of Santa’s reindeer are:
Dasher- One of Santa’s fastest reindeer, Dasher originally came from the German word “Dascher” which means ‘purse maker’ in English, so Dasher can even sew
Prancer- Prancer is a very loyal reindeer and is often found in the factory with the elves prancing around with them. Prancer also has to look his best all the time as he never knows who he
might meet next.
Vixen- Vixen loves to put on a great show and show off with his magic tricks. He can be quite cheeky though when with the other reindeer as he likes to play tricks on them, but Santa
loves his magic tricks as they can come in super handy on Christmas Eve when delivering presents.
Comet- Easy going and loves to play ball games with the fawns, Comet is the reindeer that all the children look up to and he loves the attention! He also has some words of wisdom, in-
spiring children to be on their best behavior.
Cupid- Cupid is the affectionate reindeer who often carries mistletoe. Cupid has a sweet tooth and mince pies are her favorite so make sure you leave them out on Christmas Eve! She also
loves to sing, much to the other reindeer's annoyance!
Donner- Originating from the Dutch word for thunder, Donner is always noticed when he enters a room due to his deep booming voice. Like Cupid, he also loves to sing, especially with
his twin Blitzen who are a duet together.
Blitzen- From the Dutch word for ‘lightning’, Blitzen is a fast and playful reindeer, just like a lightning bolt. He’s always on time as a result!
Rudolph- Santa’s guiding light, Rudolph joined after the original 8. He is a shy reindeer and at first was very self-conscious about himself and his red nose which many used to make fun
of. It wasn’t until Santa recognized his shiny bulb of a nose as a gift in order to light the way with his beacon of light and lead them through snowy conditions. He loves to play hide and
seek too, when he’s not working, although he does have an advantage against the other reindeer as he can light up dark spots in order to find his friends.

Hello everyone, today's topic is about masks, why masks are so important, and
even some preferences of masks/cool masks to wear.
First of all, we all need to understand the importance of masks, even though we
already know a bit about them. First of all, I know masks can be a struggle, like
how they can make your face sweaty/itchy, or how it might be hard to breath,
but the Corona-Virus is a very serious virus, and if you aren't doing all the pre-
cautions required, such as wearing a mask when outside and sanitizing every-
thing, you are putting yourself and other people at risk of catching this deadly
virus. Secondly, as I said before, if you don´t wear a mask when required, you
can get innocent people, like yourself sick. So it is very good that all of us un-
derstand the importance of masks, and keeping yourself and everyone else safe,
in this tough time of the Corona-Virus pandemic, of 2020!
Anyways, about masks, I personally do not like this time with everything going
on and so when I need to do things like wear a mask to protect myself and oth-
ers, I like to do it with comfort and style, so I can be comfortable when wearing
one that wearing a cool mask makes it fun! Plus, there are many varieties of
masks like blue/black paper masks, reusable cloth masks, homemade ones, neck
gaiter masks, N95 masks, and many more options to choose from. Now there is
variety, so you can choose one that suits you, whether you think it's cool, the
most comfortable, or the most effective in your own opinion! My opinion is that
I think all masks work, but I love cloth masks because they are comfortable and
there are many cool styles that come with them!!
Now, with all the cute and affective masks, there are a few that I wanted to
point out. Did you know that you can actually purchase a ramen mask. It has a
bowl on the mask part and everything. It looks very cool and all but in my opin-
ion, I would not choose to use that mask because it is very bulky. There are also
masks that are very abstract, with a pop of color, and get this! There is a mask
where you can print your exact lower face on it so, even though you are still
technically wearing a mask, these custom masks make it look like your whole
face, while being safe!! So, I hope you liked reading my article, All About

If your masks are beginning to feel as old as this pandemic, it’s probably time to get yourself some new ones.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises using masks that have at least two layers of tightly woven, washable,
breathable fabric, such as cotton. When you wash your masks regularly, which you’re supposed to do, the fabric, as well as the fit, can
begin to deteriorate. As this happens, your masks become less effective.
“A newer, fresher mask is likely to have tighter fibers, and so it’s likely better at keeping out other particles and keeping your particles
in,” says Krys Johnson, an epidemiologist and assistant professor at Temple University.
The exact timeline of when you need to replace a mask depends on the makeup of the mask, along with other factors like how much
you’re washing it, and how often you’re taking it on and off.
But as a general rule of thumb: “Think about masks like seasonal attire. Update every season,” says Johnson.
Here’s how else to know if you should replace a mask.
A snug fit is key. If the elastic of your ear loops starts to loosen, it’s time to reach for something tighter.
That’s a bad sign, says Johnson, and may indicate that the fabric is deteriorating, or was too thin from the start.
A mask needs to cover your nose and mouth in order to work. If one of the straps falls off and you have to keep touching your mask to
keep it in place, this defeats its purpose.
This is perhaps the most obvious sign of all. If your mask is ripped, it needs to go. It doesn’t matter how small or large the hole is.
Experts strongly recommend owning more than one mask. And in the winter, you’ll want to carry a backup. Moving from chilly out-
door environments into cozy indoor settings makes it easy to sweat through your mask, as does wearing multiple layers. You’re advised
to always swap a wet mask for a dry one. A wet mask can make it harder to breathe. And of course it’s uncomfortable, especially if
you’re walking back outside into cooler temps.
When in doubt, replace it, says Johnson. We want to eliminate risk as much as possible right now, and proper mask wearing is part of
that.
If you have a disposable face mask, the CDC advises throwing it away after you’ve worn it once.

Banana Bread Recipe

Banana bread is perfect for a holiday dessert, and this recipe has run in my family for years.
Ingredients:
- 3 eggs
- 170 grams of sugar
- 160 grams of butter
- 160 grams of all purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon of baking soda
- a pinch of salt
- 2 very ripe bananas
Step 1. Crush the bananas with a fork.
Step 2. Melt the butter in the microwave.
Step 3. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl, add the butter and banana, and pour into a greased cake mold of your choice.
Step 4. Cook the bread at 350 fahrenheit for about 40 minutes.
