Direction: Differentiate prescription of crimes and prescription of penalties in 3-5 sentences.

The same dictionary defines “prescription of the crime” to mean the


“termination of the right or power to prosecute and to punish the
offender, after the lapse of a definite period from the commission of
the offense, or if this is not known, from the day of its discovery and
the beginning of the judicial proceedings for investigation and
punishment.”

Under Article 92 of the Revised Penal Code (RPC),


correctional penalties, such as the penalty imposed against the
accused in the case of your sister, prescribe in ten (10)
years. Prescription provides for the limitation of time within which
a penalty must be executed. Otherwise, it is forever barred.
