to the Academic Performance of

the Students of Batag National School

Chapter 1

INTRODUCTION

Background of the study

Modular learning is a form of distance learning that uses Self-Learning Modules (SLM) based on the
most essential learning competencies (MELCS) provided by DepEd. The modules include sections on
motivation and assessment that serve as a complete guide of both teachers' and students' desired
competencies.

This refers to a learning delivery modality where learning takes place between the teacher and the
learners who are geographically remote from each other during instruction. This modality has three
types: Modular Distance Learning (MDL), Online Distance Learning (ODL), and TV/Radio-Based
Instruction.

Objectives of the Study

This study aims to find out the Effects of Modular Learning to the Academic Performance of the
Students in Batag National High School.

Specifically, this study seems to:


1. Determine the level academic performance of the respondents as assessed by the teacher.

2. Determine the effect of modular learning to the academic performance of the respondents

in terms of:

a. Family Factor,

b. Teacher Factor, and

c. Environmental Factors.

3. Determine the significance relationship between the level of academic performance of the

respondents as assessed by the teacher and the effect of modular learning to the academic

performance of the respondents in terms of:

a. Family Factor,

b. Teacher Factor, and

c. Environmental Factor.

Scope and Limitation of the Study

This study will focus on the Effect of Modular Learning to the Academic Performance of Students in
Batag National High School, Laoang Northern Samar.

The respondents of this study will be 500 students enrolled in school year 202-2021.

This study is limited to the effect of modular learning to the academic performance of the respondents
in terms of: family factor, teacher Factor, and environmental factor.

Hypothesis

There is significance relationship between the level of academic performance of the respondents as
assessed by the teacher and the effect of modular learning to the academic performance of the
respondents in terms of: family factor, teacher Factor, and environmental factor.
Paradigm
