Complete the gaps in these sentences with the words from the previous exercise.

1. If we don’t hurry up, we’ll miss the bus. It leaves the bus station at ten o’clock.
2. It’s cheaper for four people to catch / take a taxi rather than go on the underground,
because the taxi fare comes to less than the price of four tickets.
3. After you check in your luggage, they give you a boarding pass which you take
along to the gate, where someone checks it before you get on the plane.
4. The train to Edinburgh leaves from platform number eight and you have to buy your
ticket in the office before you get on.
5. In the timetable, it said that the bus left at 10.00, and so
we got there at 9.45 so that we would be sure to catch it.

Pietro and Valerie are doing exercise 2. Complete the gaps in their conversation using the
phrases below. Write the correct letters in the spaces.
Valerie: So, our friend wants to learn a new language…
Pietro:(1) F That’s right, and he’s only got £20 to spend, so he can’t buy all these things, can he?
Valerie: No, he can’t. Let’s start by talking which of them will be useful for him.
